"5 things to know before you visit the Great Ocean Road 👇

1. It's longer than it looks on the map. Melbourne to the Twelve Apostles is a proper day out, not an afternoon.

2. The best light is late. Around 4pm, the Apostles glow. Most bus tours have already left.

3. Koalas hide in gum trees. You will walk past twenty. A guide who knows the Otways will spot the twenty-first.

4. Lunch is a real meal. Apollo Bay or Lavers Hill — worth stopping properly for, not eating in the van.

5. Small groups see more. Eleven people in a van beats forty-two in a coach, every time.
