Today marks 12 years since Parramatta Gaol closed it's doors for the last time. At this time, it was the longest serving prison in Australia.

Announcement: Events at Old Parramatta Gaol on Hold

We regret to inform you that all events at Old Parramatta Gaol are on hold indefinitely due to a zoning Development Application (DA) issue. This situation has arisen following the administration of the Deerubbin Local Aboriginal Lands Council, which owns the gaol.

We are working hard to resolve this issue and hope to find a solution soon. All ticket holders have been emailed, and their tickets have been refunded. In the meantime, we kindly ask for your support in helping us continue these beloved events. I found this image on the web, taken in the Chapel at Old Parramatta Gaol.

At first I thought, "Oh, what a great shot!" and then I noticed who was sitting in the front row...

The person I have circled in the close up image is Leonard Keith Lawson, coined as the "Comic Book Killer". He actually attacked dancer Sharon Hamilton in this very chapel, when she was doing a performance just like this! Mind blowing!

There are a few engravings around Old Parramatta Gaol, but this one is the most poignant. An Aboriginal engraving, high on the inner perimeter wall of the prison. This was clearly engraved by an Aboriginal prisoner who left their mark for us to see, nearly 200 years later 🩷

How long is the line for Fear Therapy?

We keep the line moving as quickly as possible, but it all depends on the date/time you choose to come. We typically see more customers on Saturdays, and like all haunted attractions, wait times increases on Halloween.

Fear Therapy works hard to balance the flow of guests entering the haunt to allow groups to enjoy the experience without being rushed, while also reducing the extended wait times for those in line.

Line entertainers will be in close proximity to guests to keep everyone excited and entertained while waiting. Don’t forget! We’ve made it easier for you to enter a shorter line by offering prepurchased tickets.

For those who chose tickets during the day on 2 November, your entry will include access to our Halloween Fair! A fun market-style event running in conjunction with the haunted house!

If you don’t have tickets to the haunted house, you can still come to the Fair with just a $10 entry fee.

Is my child old enough to attend Fear Therapy?

All ages are allowed. We have spent a long time considering the “right” answer for this. When considering bringing a child to a haunted attraction, it’s important to note that fear is experienced differently from person to person at any age. It’s much too difficult for us to give an accurate judgment, and so it is advised that parents make this decision since they know their child the best.

We do offer two different haunts - both are scary, but one is slightly less scary than the other.

We also offer “monster repellent” for purchase at $1 per child. This means that when the monster sees the “monster repellent”, they will not target the child.

Fear Therapy is being held at Old Parramatta Gaol between 31 October and 2 November. Tickets can be purchased here:
