The paper arrival card is on its way out for international travellers entering Australia.

The Federal Government is rolling out the Australia Travel Declaration (ATD), a digital system replacing the paper incoming passenger card for all international arrivals, with the new digital cards expanding to international airports across Australia over the next 18 months.

Once in place, international travellers will complete their arrival declaration online rather than filling in the paper card on the flight or in the arrivals hall.

The changes are designed to streamline passenger processing, improve data collection and support a faster response to events like global disease outbreaks, all while maintaining strong border security.

Did you know Switzerland runs a train that takes you to a chocolate factory? Restored 1915 Belle Époque Pullman carriages carry passengers from Montreux through the Gruyère countryside in first class, with later stretches by bus. The destination is Maison Ca***er, one of Switzerland's oldest chocolate factories. Inside, you can walk through the story of how Swiss chocolate came to be before finishing with a tasting that's the highlight of the whole journey.
