Business as usual. Just a different office.
Over the next four weeks, The Travellers Club will be travelling through Indonesia.
Not for a holiday.
For research.
Our focus is simple. We're taking the time to inspect hotels, test transport, explore destinations and meet with local partners so that every recommendation we make is based on first-hand experience, not brochures or marketing photos.
This research trip has two major projects.
The first is finalising our new Semi-Hosted and Solo Collection, ensuring every itinerary is built around destinations, accommodation and experiences we'd happily recommend to our own family and friends.
The second is something we're incredibly excited to share...
Bali... Beyond Kuta.
A collection of holidays designed to introduce a different side of Bali. Quieter places. Better local experiences. Destinations that deserve just as much attention as the island's more familiar tourist areas.
Most importantly, it's business as usual.
We'll still be answering emails, preparing quotes, confirming bookings and looking after our clients every day. The only difference is that, for the next month, our office might be an airport lounge, a train carriage, a hotel lobby or a café somewhere in Indonesia.
Over the coming weeks we'll be sharing what we discover. The good. The bad. The places we'd recommend without hesitation... and the ones we wouldn't.
Because we believe the best travel advice comes from people who have actually been there.

✨ Vietnam Airlines A321 Business Class | Bangkok → Hanoi ✨

As part of our current Southeast Asia research journey, we recently flew Vietnam Airlines Business Class between Bangkok and Hanoi on their Airbus A321 and honestly, we came away genuinely impressed.

From the moment we arrived at the airport, the experience felt smooth and premium.

✓ Check-in was seamless ✓ Fast Track immigration was excellent ✓ Lounge access included ✓ Generous checked baggage and carry-on allowances

Now, let’s be realistic.

The seating itself is spacious and comfortable, however it’s probably not quite at the same level as Cathay Pacific’s regional Business Class product on similar aircraft.

But where Vietnam Airlines absolutely shines, much like many airlines throughout Asia, is the service.

The cabin crew throughout the flight were warm, attentive and genuinely couldn’t do enough for passengers. On a relatively short 2.5 hour sector, the crew still managed to create an experience that felt calm, polished and very well cared for.

The lounge in Bangkok is on the smaller side, however still better equipped than several regional Business lounges we’ve visited recently and perfectly comfortable before departure.

Of course, there are certainly cheaper ways to travel between Bangkok and Hanoi.

But for just under $500 AUD, when you factor in: ✓ Business Class seating ✓ Fast Track ✓ Lounge access ✓ Extra baggage ✓ Priority services ✓ and genuinely lovely onboard service

…we honestly felt it represented very solid value overall.

If this short regional flight is any indication, we genuinely can’t wait to experience Vietnam Airlines long-haul Business Class in the future ✈️🇻🇳

As we begin winding up our recent Bangkok & Hanoi recon journey, one thing has become incredibly clear…

These two cities have absolutely captured our hearts. 🇹🇭🇻🇳

Over the past week we’ve spent our time exploring hotels, airlines, cafés, hidden streets, rooftop bars, local experiences and everything in between, all with one goal:

Bangkok continues to amaze us with its energy, luxury, food scene and incredible contrast between modern city life and traditional culture.
