Colombian people are very quickly standing out as a highlight of travelling here. They are so welcoming and warm and interested in you. That applies to city or country folk and even the very friendly customs team! Our local guide, Pablo, the guy with the huge pumpkin is amazing and so passionate about his country. In the small towns the “bush telegraph” works very well. You’ll have a coffee on one side of the square and by the time you make it to the other side the people already know about the group of Aussies, Kiwis, Brits and Camanadians are in town. One restaurant asked if they could have a photo with us as they have never had so many tourists in their place.

First night out of Bogota was in Villa de Leyva. UNESCO world heritage listed. Stunning town with the largest square in South America. Beautiful hotel and we are tasting different Colombian food along the way. Hot chocolate with cheese I don’t need to try again. Separately lovely but not sold on the combination!

Colombia-Ecuador Self Drive Adventure #1 has officially started!

All our crew has arrived and met Pablo our very knowledgeable and likeable local guide. We are in safe hands for part one of our adventure which is 17 days in Colombia.

Fabulous welcome dinner due to the recommendation of our local operator.

Looking forward to seeing more of Bogota in the morning.

The wildlife of Madagascar is truly in a league of its own. 🌿🇲🇬
Ever heard of a Fossa? It’s Madagascar’s apex predator—part cat, part mongoose, and an expert tree-climber. What about the Aye-Aye? A nocturnal lemur that uses a specialized, extra-long finger to tap trees and hunt for grubs in the dark.
And then there’s the Indri Indri, the largest lemur on Earth, famous for eerie, whale-like calls that travel miles through the canopy.
A few more mind-blowing facts:
🦎 Over 90% of Madagascar’s wildlife is endemic (found nowhere else on Earth).
🐒 Over 110 distinct species of lemur call Madagascar home—ranging from the tiny 30-gram Mouse Lemur to the massive Indri!
🌈 It's home to roughly two-thirds of all chameleon species, from giant tree-dwellers to species small enough to sit on your thumbnail.
We’re heading back to explore this extraordinary island in 2027! We already have a few sign-ups on our guided 4x4 self drive adventure, but there’s still room for you to join the expedition team.
👉 Drop us a message to grab your spot before they fill up!
