Made it to Windhoek! I love this small international airport and the opportunity to walk across the tarmac. Picked up by City Cabs and safely delivered to the Arebbusch travel lodge that is nestled in bush and close to the city. Our mascot Juan the warthog is here too, ready for a new country. This time ANGOLA!

Stay tuned!

ANGOLA here we come!

Linda is at the airport about to board her flight to Africa.

She will meet our guide Simon and other guests for our first ever Angolan Adventure in partnership with African Parks who manage Iona National Park which is the main focus of our journey.

Don’t know much about Angola? Learn along with us as we explore it. Here is a short history lesson.

Pre-colonial: The region was dominated by Bantu-speaking kingdoms.

Portuguese colonisation:
Colonised in 1575 Angola was transformed it into a major hub for the transatlantic slave trade. followed until Angola gained independence in 1975.

Post colonial rule:
After nearly four centuries of oppressive colonial rule Portugal officially pulled out on 11 November 1975, the departure was chaotic, sudden, and left no functional government behind.

What immediately followed was a devastating civil war.

This conflict devastated the nation for 27 years until peace was finally established in 2002.

Today:
Angola is rebuilding as a republic, heavily driven by its vast oil and diamond reserves.

THE ADVENTURE BEGINS! ZIMBABWE 42 DAY 4x4 EXPEDITION
Our latest expedition hit the road north from Jo’burg to Zimbabwe first thing tomorrow.

Waiting for them across the border in Zimbabwe are two very familiar and beloved faces: our legendary guide Gus and his fantastic wife, Amanda!
Gus and Amanda sent over this quick welcome video to get everyone in the zone, and they have one vital piece of homework for the group as they start their journey. It’s time to officially introduce yourselves to a time-honoured African tradition: the Sundowner. 🍹🌅

At the end of every single dust-kicking, wildlife-spotting, breathtaking day on the tracks, there is a hard rule. You pull up, cut the engines, pour a cold drink, and watch the sky turn to fire.

As Gus mentions in the video, the sundowner isn't just a drink—it’s a ritual.
Turn up the volume to hear the full welcome from Gus and Amanda, and let’s get this journey started! Safe driving to our crew on the road today—we can't wait to see your first sunset photos! 🥂

🦁 Unfiltered Africa: A Day in the Life of the Pride
There is "wild," and then there’s Botswana wild!

Our latest guests just returned from an incredible journey through Chobe and Khwai, and their camera rolls are absolutely legendary. Check out these highlights from the field:

🍴 The Main Event: Two powerful male lions claiming their buffalo prize.

👑 The Guest List: 12 members of the pride waiting patiently (mostly!) nearby for their turn to join the feast.

🐕 Golden Hour: Rare African Wild Dogs soaking up the sun between hunts.

🦅 Eyes in the Sky: A bird of prey showing off its own impressive hunting skills.

From the riverfronts of Chobe to the lagoons of Khwai, the sheer density of wildlife in this area is breathtaking. This is what happens when you’re in the right place at the right time.
