Today we are back in Barcelona and have a full day to explore. We were lucky enough to be able to check in to our hotel early and then we headed out on foot. Close by is Parque de la Ciutadella which was a great surprise and wonderful to walk through taking us over to the Gothic Quarter. Our journey back to the hotel had us walk through El Born which I loved and would have to say is my favourite part of the city. Staying in a different hotel in a different location can be a great way to experience an area not previously discovered. Our step count was high and feet a little sore but we had a great day in Barcelona 🇪🇸

Well that a wrap on our Mediterranean Adventure as we say goodbye to Sun Princess 🛳️ We are docked back in Barcelona with some great memories of a time spent with great friends 🙏 Sun Princess is a beautiful ship with a great crew and deserving of their recent win of The Princess Cup - best ship in the fleet 🛳️ We have had the best weather albeit hot, its been sunshine everyday, calm seas and amazing sunsets 🌅 We have had some great dining experiences, enjoyed a beverage or 2 🥂🍹🍺🥃🍷 and enjoyed lots of laughs with great entertainment. We leave Barry & Heike here as we all continue our adventures 🚌🛳️✈️ Thanks for the fun 🥳

Day 21 it’s our final Sea Day before we disembark in Barcelona tomorrow 🛳️ it’s time to pack up say our goodbyes and enjoy our last day. An absolute highlight was a show by our cruise director Dan Looney by far one of the best I’ve seen. Inspirational in telling his story and an extreme talent. So lucky to have him on our journey 🛳️ A great last night on our cruise 🥳

Day 20 and I am Awake early and watched us arriving into Messina Sicily 🇮🇹 It was a calm slow arrival navigating the Messina Strait watching the sun rise and passing Enchanted Princess along the way 🛳️🛳️
I think the best of Sicily required getting out and about further. I succumbed to the Petite train tour around the city which at least made one of us happy 😂 that was until he wanted to go again and was told it was a one time deal. No hop on hop off for you 😂 Messina is famous for The bell tower of the Cathedral of Messina it contains the biggest and most complex mechanical and astronomical clock in the world. It was inaugurated in 1933 and is the city’s main attraction even today. At noon a complex system of counterweights, leverages and gears, determines the movement of the gilded bronze statues located in the façade. The mechanism moves every day at 12.00pm and lasts 12 minutes. We gathered with the multitudes to watch the show and it was back on board for another early sailaway and another yummy Teppanyaki Dinner 🍚🥢🍶

Kalimera its Day 19 and we are in Corfu 🇬🇷 We have gravitated back to Greece again 🇬🇷 we can’t seem to stay away. Our clocks are going back and forward almost daily. Like many of our recent ports it’s off to the old town where we see the Old Fortress, wander the streets, get lost in the alleyways and enjoy a local beverage 🍺 Today we depart slightly earlier so there is the excitement and cheering out on deck watching pier runners almost missing the ship (no not us) and the possibility a couple didn’t make it 🤷‍♀️ Tomorrow is our last port as we sail for Messina in Sicily 🇮🇹

This morning we docked in Bar Montenegro. It’s day 18 and an easy day to explore the small Old Town of Stari Bar. It’s nestled into the foot of the mountains and only a short drive from town. It’s old and quaint and we enjoy a local speciality of Pomegranate Beer 🍺

Today has been a long time coming and after being cancelled twice it’s Day 16 and we finally make it to stunning Santorini 🇬🇷💙 Today is a tender port and we have had many warnings about long lines for the cable car and big crowds. To our delight we tender over with ease and we have no line at all we ascend to Fira on the Cable Car 🚡👏 Also recommended is head over to Oia first to beat the crowds there. We take the advice and catch the local bus 🚌… we are getting very good at all the local options …. And we arrive in Oia WOW its stunning views are endless in every direction but we have to navigate the selfie sticks, the instagramers and the wanna be ones whilst trying to get those stunning shots 📸🤳 We are very glad we went when we did as we decide to head back to the bus stop the incoming arrival of tour groups and crowds are endless. Back on the bus to Fira where we explored the street and views here also before heading back down to the port and again … no queues 😲 …. We all agree we did today well and loved our day in Santorini 💙 We sailed away with a beautiful sunset to end the day 🌅🛳️🌊🥂

Day 15 and we enter our final week onboard 😢 As this cruise is sold in 7 day segments it marks another Disembarkation day for those leaving in Athens which also means new passengers will also embark. It’s a big turnaround here with about 3000 coming and going. We are in the busy port Piraeus joined by numerous ships and ferries which all come and go quite quickly. This is another city we spent a few days in last year so we make our way into Athens after the rush and wander through the Plaka and Monestraki whilst not having to rush to all the major landmarks 🏛️ We enjoy a later afternoon sailaway and being a bit of a ship ju**ie we are joined by Azamara Onward & Emerald Azzurra just to name a couple 🛳️🛳️🌊🌅🥂
