Experience Noosa whale watching at its most exciting with Noosa Ocean Rider — one of Noosa’s longest-running ocean adventure operators, with 25 years of experience on the water.
Climb aboard our purpose-built 8.8m Gemini RIB and head out from Noosa Marina, along the spectacular Noosa coastline and into the open ocean in search of migrating humpback whales.
This isn’t just another whale watching cruise. With a maximum of only 12 passengers, you’re close to the action with uninterrupted views and a personal, small-group experience. During the migration season, encounters can include spectacular breaches, tail lobs, pectoral slaps, mothers and calves, curious whales approaching the boat, and often dolphins along the way.
Our experienced local crew know these waters. We actively search for the best whale activity, and when conditions allow, our team can even use land-based spotting to help locate whales and maximise your experience.
Along the way, enjoy incredible views of Noosa Heads, Tea Tree Bay, Hells Gate, the National Park coastline, Alexandria Bay and Sunshine Beach.

For around 25 years, Noosa Ocean Rider has been taking visitors beyond the Noosa River and onto the open ocean, making us one of Noosa's longest-running dedicated ocean adventure experiences.

This isn't just another sightseeing cruise.

It's a genuine small-group ocean expedition combining wildlife, spectacular coastline, experienced captains and serious offshore adventure.

25 Years of Ocean Adventure in Noosa

When you're heading onto the open ocean, experience matters.

Noosa Ocean Rider has been operating in Noosa for around 25 years, with a long history of professional ocean adventure tours.

Today, Ocean Rider is operated by father-and-son captains Michael and Ozzie Black, bringing extensive marine experience from waters around Australia, including Ningaloo Reef, Shark Bay, the Southern Great Barrier Reef and Noosa.

Our experience includes whale watching, wildlife tourism, commercial and charter fishing, diving, freediving and marine filming.

We know the ocean, and we love showing people the wild side of Noosa.

We Do the Miles to Get the Smiles

Whales and dolphins are wild animals.

They don't follow a timetable.

That's why we don't simply head offshore and wait for something to happen.

We go looking.

During whale season, our experienced crew actively searches for whale activity. Whenever operations allow, one captain can be driving Ocean Rider while another experienced set of eyes assists with spotting activity offshore.

A distant blow, splash or breach can be the beginning of an incredible encounter.
