Be easy to do business with.

This is a mantra that revolutionised the way I view business and customer relationships.

I first heard it around 2013 while working for a major gym brand. At the time, we were going through a significant change in the way customers interacted with us, and this simple statement became the backbone of that new direction.

Stripping back "the way it's always been done" contracts and processes, and instead thinking about how the customer actually wanted to work with us, was forward-thinking at the time. I feel fortunate to have worked in that industry during such a transformational period because it exposed me to some valuable lessons that have stayed with me ever since.

And being easy to do business with is one of them.

Our customers lead our business.

If a client needs to discuss travel plans after hours on a Friday, we do our best to make it happen.

If they need to cancel plans, we action it without unnecessary hurdles.

If they want 500 itineraries to 20 destinations, priced in economy, premium economy and business class so they can compare every possible option—we might quietly tear our hair out—but you better believe we'll do it.

We don't always get it right, and we're certainly not the right fit for everyone.

But it is absolutely second nature for us to conduct ourselves as a business that is easy to do business with.

Yours in travel,

Alex ✈️

A Travel Agent's Perspective

Over the years, I've come to realise that when it comes to booking holidays, it's rarely about who has access to the best deals.

The reality is that we have access to the same suppliers, the same booking platforms, and often the same promotions as the major retail travel brands across Australia and New Zealand.

What it really comes down to is the booking experience that suits each customer best.

Some travellers enjoy setting aside time to drive to a shopping centre, find a car park, walk through the stores, and sit down face-to-face with an agent to talk through every detail of their dream holiday.

There's absolutely nothing wrong with that.

But our customers don't have to do any of those things.

Our customers value convenience.

They like being able to work on their holiday plans when it suits them—not when a store happens to be open and there's a gap in their diary.

It's the email sent after the kids have finally gone to bed, outlining all the ideas they've been thinking about for months.

It's the quick phone call during a lunch break to confirm a few final details before giving the go-ahead.

It's reviewing itineraries from the comfort of home, with a coffee in hand, instead of setting aside half a day to get to a retail appointment.

It's having a travel agent available around your life, rather than arranging your life around a travel agent.

Some travellers love the face-to-face experience. They enjoy sitting across from someone, flicking through brochures and building excitement together.

Others love opening their inbox to find a colourful itinerary waiting for them. They can review it in their own time, discuss it with their family, compare options privately, and make decisions without pressure.

Neither approach is right or wrong.

But in today's busy world, time is one of our most valuable resources.

Everyone needs a travel agent.

We're simply here for the people who want the same expertise, the same suppliers, and the same great deals—delivered in a way that fits around their life.

Always yours in travel

You can't beat a Trumpet.

But also you can't beat a really good Monday deal. Here's what i'd be booking if I was mad about chasing powder on my skis this year.

With a few new faces to our community I thought it might be timely to revisit our story, how Chasing Dreams Travel began, , and our very core values: helping more people explore more of the world, while keeping prices as lean as possible.

For a long time I worked in the exercise industry. It’s fair to say that with my personality I can’t just “do” something; I have to go all in, dedicating everything to it… putting my all in and aiming to doing something.. well.. remarkable. That’s what happened with the exercise industry. I moved up the ranks, had amazing roles in London, Australia and New Zealand. Eventually I was tasked with managing larger scale gyms, working on their profitability. My final role in the industry was performance driving 13 gyms multi-region.

When I wasn’t managing P&L’s, customer satisfaction and team engagement, I travelled. During my industry tenure I ticked off around 25 countries.

But the exercise industry eventually required all of my time (literally 24hours) and travel became increasingly restricted. My passion for business metrics that involve customer satisfaction was still very alive.

In around 2016 I booked a trip to Nepal and left 5 days later.. solo. I hiked the Annapurna Trail – something i’d always wanted to do. During this trip I felt compelled to rethink life’s direction.

Interestingly, on my return I heard recurring comments along the lines of “whaaatt?? you went there on your own??” as though I was a kind of mad woman! But to me it seemed crazy that some people don’t feel able to explore the globe when there are so many amazing places out there!!

So I studied a Diploma in Travel Journalism on the side and started a blog called Alex Chasing Dreams. There I wrote about the places I find really interesting. I thought that through my words people might feel inspired to visit some of them.

Except.. my blog caught more attention than I expected and I needed to think about how I can assist people to actually get to these places. So… I went door knocking.

I contacted all the Travel Agency’s I could find with a “Hey I’m Alex. I’ve got a ton of business experience and a ton of travel experience.. fancy training me up to be an agent”? A few knock backs, and then voila.. Travel Advocates said yes.

Within days I was on a plane to Auckland learning Airline Reservation Systems and studying a Cert 4 Travel & Tourism. My blog site became my website.. a slight name change.. and the rest is history!

What started as a dream to help people see more of the world without limitations, remains exactly that to this very day. Designing and booking the travel experience, while stripping back the fat to make the trip as lean on the pocket as possible for the customer. Operating a business that relies on the satisfaction of our customers.

Every year Chasing Dreams Travel has grown. And we never, ever take our foot of the pedal to be the very best.

Yours in travel

Why I’d choose Singapore over Anaheim for the ultimate family holiday, any day of the week.

Yes - even with Disneyland in the mix.

The best family holidays aren’t just about one attraction and trauling far away to sat you've done it. They’re about ease, energy, variety, and how everyone feels by day five.

Singapore just works for families. The unsung hero of the thriving family holiday with all the attractions.

You have:
• World-class hotels with incredible pools
• Night safaris and wildlife parks
• Sentosa beaches and attractions
• Universal Studios without the chaos
• Amazing food everywhere
• Easy transport
• Clean, safe streets
• Short transfer times
• Luxury without complication

Entertainment for everyone, in a place where they just get tourism. Things run smoothly, easily, and you've got solid airlines and connections making the entire round trip straightforward.

No huge commutes. No exhausting park strategy. No “go-go-go” pressure every single day.

Just an incredibly seamless mix of adventure, relaxation, excitement, and comfort.

For many families, I genuinely think Singapore delivers the better overall experience.

And honestly?
It’s one of the easiest family destinations in the world to love.
