Last day of our Greenland adventure with Quark expeditions. Hiking with a million bugs, slipping on mossy rocks, limping off with an injured tail bone and watching both the moon and sunset as the ship sets sail. It is not a trip for up close and personal animal encounters, instead it is all about the landscapes and the beauty of nature. What a wow day in Southern Greenland.
We sailed up Erik Fjord which in the Greenlandic language translates to Polar Bear Highway.
The UNESCO site of Qassiarsuk is the remnants of the first Norse settlement in Greenland founded in 982 by Erik the Red father of Leif Erickson.
This afternoon we took to the skies and helicoptered up a glacier and landed. What a brilliant way of seeing the world’s largest island.
