THE BASTOGNE WAR ROOMS
**Located in an authentic historic site, the Bastogne War Rooms take you 80 years back in time, to the heart of the Battle of the Bulge.**
**It is December 22, 1944. As Bastogne is surrounded, Brigadier General McAuliffe of the 101st Airborne Division receives a German demand for surrender, to which he gives his now-famous reply: “Nuts!” This response boosted the morale of the American defenders of Bastogne, turning the town into a symbol of resistance against the last major German offensive of the Second World War.**
**The visit to the Bastogne War Rooms, begins in where several rooms have been fully restored to recreate the atmosphere of a military headquarters. Here, you can follow the course of the fighting in Bastogne during the winter of 1944. Period uniforms, sound effects, weapons, and everyday objects used by soldiers are all on display. The experience combines all of this with a modern, engaging exhibition design.
**The tour continues in the very cellars where the General and his men set up their headquarters. Through immersive videos recreating scenes from daily life in the barracks, you will relive the famous “Nuts!” moment and discover the historical context surrounding it. A truly immersive journey into history, in the very place where it all happened.**

From Brussels drive over the Meuse river in Namur. Arrive in Bastogne. Snack lunch at the museum café (not incl.) See the Sherman tank, the McAuliffe square, the Patton square, the Nurses Memorial, and the Mardasson memorial. Walk to the foxholes and Bois Jacques before returning to Brussels (2h drive). Drive through village of Foy.
During this tour I shall introduce you to Belgium and the Ardennes region. We'll talk about history, education, economy, politics and more! As I'm not an expert in military history, the in-depth details about the Battle of the Bulge will be exposed to you at the exhibition via an original design interspersed with three “scénovisions”, authentic multi-sensorial and 3D dramatizations, which enable full immersion in History!
