Most families pack one suitcase per person. And while that may seem totally organized, it actually creates more chaos and causes overpacking.
For longer trips, this simple packing trick truly changed everything for us.
And it’s so simple: I pack by DAY instead of by PERSON.
For example, a 7-night trip looks something like this:
🧳Suitcase 1: Days 1–3 for the whole family
🧳Suitcase 2: Days 4–6 for the whole family
🧳Suitcase 3: Day 7 plus travel outfits to come home
This way you only open ONE suitcase at a time and never have to dig through everyone’s luggage or spend time unpacking and organizing 7 days worth of clothes as soon as you get into your room.
Toiletries, shoes, miscellaneous items all go in their own suitcase or better, I Tetris them in with all of our clothes.
It keeps the room organized and eliminates overpacking, and I promise, once you try it you’ll never go back.
