And we are off once again on a fantastic 10 day safari through the wild lands of northern Botswana. With a bit of luck and very early morning starts, we hope to catch at least a glimpse of the Leopard Rock female. More to report on our return!

Play time for these two cubs under the watchful eye of Mama. Her hunting prowess is directly linked to their young lives. Their tummies full with both her milk and now meat as they start to get a feel for what it actually means to be a Lion. This play behaviour will play a part in them eventually becoming successful hunters in their own right.

Magic is in the air, from the quietness of the Kalahari to the orchestra of sound to be found in the Okavango Delta. Here, a female Leopard takes a leap up a dead Leadwood tree to scout her surroundings deep inside the delta system. Sheer moments of magic indeed!

Focused and with intent. This beautiful male Leopard was moments away from stealing an African Wild Dog kill. It was only the youngsters still feeding on an Impala. He got it. But as quickly as he stole it from them, the adult dogs came charging in. He aborted mission and was sent up a tree to recover. SAVUTE!!

Just before sunrise, our tracker from Mashatu Tented camp spotted this amazing creature. Chameleons - mystical and magical! There name is derived from the Ancient Greek word - khamaileon which means “ground lion” or “earth lion”. Go figure.

A beautiful young Leopard cub in the Mashatu Game Reserve in Botswana. This destination is insane for Leopard sightings and a wildlife photographers dream.

Every time I see them, I am taken aback by the their appearance. Their evolution spans some 20 million years, transforming small deer-like forest ancestors into the tallest living land mammals. Driven by climate shifts and changing food sources, the linage split into unique forms like the modern Giraffe that we see today and the Okapi. March and April are stunning months to travel to Botswana to get stunning cloud backgrounds to the imagery.
