🌿📖 Today, June 20, marks a very special date for Anne of Green Gables in 1908.

As so many celebrate the book that introduced Anne Shirley to the world, we also remember where it began.

In her journal entry written on April 18, 1914, Lucy Maud Montgomery looks back on the evening she wrote Anne of Green Gables:

"I remember well the very evening I wrote the opening paragraph of Green Gables. It was a moist, showery, sweet-scented evening in June ten years ago. I was sitting on the end of the table, in the old kitchen, my feet on the sofa, beside the west window, because I wanted to get the last gleams of daylight on my portfolio.
I did not for a moment dream that the book I had just begun was to bring me fame and success I had long dreamed of."

From the old kitchen of the Cavendish Homestead came the opening paragraphs of a novel that would travel far beyond Prince Edward Island and touch generations of readers around the globe and to this day STILL so very loved. 🥰

You did it, Maud ❤️

💚 Happy Publication Day, Anne of Green Gables.💚
