Our day started with a beautiful sunrise as we sailed into Kos, an island known as the "Floating Garden."

With a local guide and historian, we visited the Asclepion, a sacred healing centre on the hills outside town dating to the 4th century BC. It was named for Asclepius, the Greek god of medicine, and ancient Greeks and Romans came here to recover and heal. Kos is also the birthplace of Hippocrates, the father of modern medicine, and we stood beneath the Tree of Hippocrates, where tradition says he taught his students. We finished with free time to explore the market in the Old Town.

Our Greek Isles and Turkey group stopped in Antalya, Turkey which sits on Turkey's Mediterranean coast, with the Ta**us Mountains rising behind the city and making a dramatic backdrop to the harbour. Its economy is built on three main industries: tourism, agriculture (citrus, vegetables, and flowers grown in the region's greenhouses), and trade through its busy port.

Today our group followed the water on a tour of three waterfalls. We started at the Upper Düden Falls, where the river drops into a green gorge. The Düden River runs underground through the limestone for part of its journey before coming back to the surface. Next was Kurşunlu Waterfall, a series of gentle cascades in a forested nature park. We finished at the Lower Düden Falls, where the river pours straight off the cliffs into the turquoise Mediterranean.

Today our Target Tours group docked at Antalya and spent the day in Alanya on the Turkish Mediterranean coast.

We started at Alanya Castle, built in the 13th century by the Seljuk Sultan. It sits 250 metres up on a rocky peninsula with the sea on three sides, and the views were worth the climb. Next was Damlataş Cave, discovered in 1948 during construction of the harbour. It's known for its calcite formations, and some believe its air can help with asthma. We finished at the Red Tower (Kızıl Kule), the octagonal tower that once guarded the harbour, then had free time in the city centre. Also visited Cleopatra Beach where the water was same temperature as the air. 26 degrees.

Tonight was Azamara's White Night, with everyone dressed in white for dinner under the stars on the pool deck.

Our Greek Isles and Turkey Cruise spent today exploring the island of Cyprus.

This morning we drove up into the Troodos foothills to Omodos, one of Cyprus's traditional w**e villages. Its cobblestone lanes lead to the Holy Cross Monastery in the village square. Local tradition says Saint Helena, mother of Emperor Constantine, founded the monastery in the 4th century on her way back from the Holy Land. She is said to have left behind a piece of the rope used to bind Christ, which is still kept there as a relic. The present building dates mostly from the 1800s, and it remains the centre of village life. We also had time to wander the shops and see why Omodos is known for its w**e and handmade lace.

Tonight was Azamara's AzAmazing Evening, held at the ancient Kourion Amphitheatre. The theatre was first built more than 2,000 years ago and later expanded by the Romans, and it overlooks the Mediterranean. Under the stars, we watched a symphonic performance that took us through the island's history, starting with its first settlements around 5500 BC.

What a day on Delos! We took the short boat ride from Mykonos to this tiny island, one of the most important ancient sites in Greece. In Greek mythology it's the birthplace of Apollo and Artemis. Today the whole island is an open-air museum and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. We walked through the ruins of temples, homes with mosaic floors still in place, and the famous Terrace of the Lions. It's hard to believe people were living and trading here more than 2,000 years ago. A real highlight of the trip!

Also strolled along the Mykonos waterfront whitewashed buildings, and the famous windmills on the hill above Little Venice.

Our Greek Isles and Turkey group visited Naplion, Greece today. Beautiful sunny 22 degrees. The marble-paved central square of Greece's first capital, ringed by neoclassical landmarks such as the Archaeological Museum in the Venetian Arsenal, the Old Parliament and the Trianon. From here, wander the cobbled lanes, Ottoman fountains and silversmiths' shops.
