Cowards Bastion was the site of the siege of 1668-1669 which was possibly the least bombarded place on the walls. The Tower was built as an example of a defensive tower house in 1986 and houses a museum that you have to visit!

Part 1 of the Derry walls hop on/ hop off. Start at Shipyard Quay and as you walk you will see first the neo gothic Guildhall that was built in 1887 and has free tours! The nine cannons are part of the Settlement Batch (1610–1635) with a group of nine cannons that faces Guildhall. Look close to see the City of London Coat of Arms.

These walls and gates really make the divide between the people of Northern Ireland feel so real. Loved visiting Belfast but my heart hurt seeing the history of conflict still evident today.
