Olive oil and cork manufacturing! This tour with Globus has it all! Today, thank goodness, we travelled in our air conditioned coach from Viseu to Belmonte to Castelo de Vide for a delicious lunch and then to our hotel in Evora. Belmond once again, exudes Portugal's charm and has a deep Jewish heritage. Our tour of the olive oil pressing factory was really informative as was the very impressive information we gathered at the cork factory. Castles, remnants of fortresses keeping an eye on Spain, synagogues and churches were all part of this long day of driving. The change in scenery, flora, fauna and landscape from the mountains in the north to the plains here is very evident. Grapes, olives, nut and fruit trees, cedars, cork and beautifully fragrant flowers bushes and trees are beautiful to watch unfold through the varying landscapes. Yup, I'm still loving Portugal!
