🇪🇸 MADRID | SEPTEMBER 7

And we're off! Our first full day in Spain and we're getting our first real taste of Madrid. ❤️
Today we're taking in some of the city's most iconic sights — the beautiful Cibeles Fountain, grand Paseo de la Castellana, the Royal Palace and El Retiro Park, once created as a retreat for the Spanish royal family.

Later, we headed to one of Madrid's absolute treasures — the Prado Museum, home to one of the world's greatest collections of European art and masterpieces by Spanish legends including Velázquez and Goya. Our local guide today Elena was so amazing and had so much knowledge. It was such a pleasure being in the museum with her. If you’re ever in Madrid, you must go to the Prado museum, but you absolutely also must have a great guide. The perspective she gave on the paintings was goosebumps worthy.

And then there's a little time for something the Spanish do particularly well…
La Buena Vida — “the good life.” 🇪🇸🍷
A little wandering. A café. Maybe some tapas. Definitely some people watching. We think we're going to adjust to this Spanish lifestyle just fine. 😂

ONE YEAR AGO TODAY… ✈️

One year ago today, Neal and I officially became the owners of Gone Travel’n.

And wow… what a year it has been.

Taking over this amazing company that Donna and Bill built with so much heart was exciting, terrifying and probably just a little bit crazy 😂 — but we knew we were being trusted with something incredibly special.

Over the past year, we've travelled to some pretty amazing corners of the world, shared countless laughs, navigated a few unexpected adventures (because apparently travel likes to keep us humble! 😂), welcomed new travellers into the Gone Travel’n family and, most importantly, made some truly unforgettable memories with all of you.

To Donna and Bill — thank you for trusting us with something you spent so many years building. We will never take that lightly. ❤️

And to our incredible travellers — whether you've travelled with us for years, joined us for the first time this past year, booked an upcoming adventure, recommended us to a friend, shared one of our posts or simply cheered us on… thank you.

This little travel family means more to us than you probably realize.

There have definitely been moments this year when I've wondered what on earth we got ourselves into 😂, but there have been many more moments when I've thought:

Yep. This is exactly where we're supposed to be.

So today we're celebrating one year of Gone Travel’n being ours — and all of the people who have made that first year so special.

One year down… and I have a feeling we're just getting started. ✈️🌎

🍋 WHEN TRAVEL GIVES YOU LEMONS… YOU GO TO RWANDA! 🦍🌍

Well… our East Africa – Call of the Wild Adventure has had a little plot twist! 😂

With the current situation surrounding travel to Uganda, we've decided not to sit around crossing our fingers and hoping everything changes in time.

We're adapting — and Rwanda, here we come! 🦍❤️

Our November adventure is being reworked to spend more time in beautiful Rwanda, while keeping the incredible Kenya & Tanzania portions of our journey intact.

And YES…

🦍 The gorillas are still happening!
🐒 The chimps are still happening!
🐘 The incredible East African wildlife is DEFINITELY still happening!

Sometimes travel doesn't go exactly according to plan — but that's part of the adventure. And sometimes the unexpected road turns out to be an even better one. ❤️

❄️ SUNDAY SPOTLIGHT… on a Monday! 😂 ❄️

Apparently Sunday got away from me, but Antarctica is far too spectacular to skip! 🐧🧊

Imagine towering icebergs, endless white landscapes, curious penguins, incredible wildlife and that feeling of standing at the bottom of the world. 🌎✨

Our January 2027 Antarctica adventure aboard Scenic Eclipse II is going to be one of those “I can’t believe I’m actually here” journeys.
