When I travelled through Ireland, Scotland and England this past May, I expected beautiful scenery, great pubs and plenty of history. What I did not expect was how familiar so much of it would feel.
Some of my favourite moments were the simplest onesโsitting in a pub with Scott, listening to live music, talking with the people and walking through streets filled with history. There was something about the humour, the music, the warmth and even the rugged scenery that reminded me of home.
I came away understanding more than ever why so many Newfoundlanders feel such a close connection to Ireland.
That trip also showed me how much it is possible to experience in one vacation. We visited several cities across different countries, but every place felt completely different.
