🏒✈️ **Throwback Thursday with Lissa**

March 2023. I was leading one of my groups of student travelers to Europe when an unexpected flight disruption rerouted us through Montreal.

At first, it felt like a travel hiccup. Instead, it turned into another one of those travel moments I'll never forget.

With a long layover ahead, our tour supplier surprised us with a complimentary city tour. It was my first time visiting Montreal, and suddenly I found myself exploring one of Canada's most beautiful and historic cities.

And then there was this view outside of the bus window...

As a kid, I was a huge Montreal Canadiens fan. Dryden, Lafleur, Robinson, Savard - the legends list goes on and on!!! Seeing their iconic logo towering over the city wasn't exactly on my travel bingo card for the day, but it felt like one of those full-circle moments.

The never-ending to-do list...

Some weeks it feels like there simply aren't enough hours in the days.

One of the reasons I love travel so much is that it gives us permission to step away from the noise for a little while. To slow down, breathe a little deeper, and focus on what really matters.

Sometimes the trip isn't about checking off a bucket list destination. Sometimes it's simply about creating space to recharge and reconnect with yourself, your family, or the world around you.

If I could hop on a plane tomorrow, I'd head back to Greece in a heartbeat! The sunshine, the sea, the food, the slower pace of life... it has a way of reminding me that not everything needs to be rushed and I wasn't done exploring that feeling!!

✨ WHY USE A TRAVEL ADVISOR IN THE AGE OF ONLINE BOOKING? ✈️💻❤️
Let’s clear up a couple of common myths…

One of the biggest misconceptions is that travel advisors “compete on price” or that you need to shop around for the cheapest one.
Another is that using a travel advisor costs more because of commissions.

Neither is true. 😊

Travel pricing comes from the same suppliers (airlines, cruise lines, hotels, and tour operators) whether you book online, through Expedia, or with a travel advisor.
So what’s actually different?

Life has been *life-ing* lately. I've been balancing full-time work, family, responsibilities, and everything in between, which meant my little travel corner of the internet had to take a temporary back seat.

Regardless, I’m still here.
- Still watching the travel industry.
- Still tracking the best promotions and trends.
- Still dreaming up amazing vacations for clients. ✈️🌎

And honestly? Sometimes stepping back reminds us why travel matters so much in the first place and why I care to do this. After all, in this chaotic world, we all need something to look forward to!

Travel Wisdom of the Week:
👠You do NOT need to pack “just in case” heels for a beach vacation 👠

Your suitcase knows you’re lying!
Your back knows you’re lying!
And deep down… you know you’ll wear flip flops for 7 straight days 🤣 🩴☀️

Bonus Wisdom: If you packed 14 outfits for a 5-night trip… you’re not packing logically....You’re packing emotionally. 😅

But in all seriousness, packing with intention can make travel so much easier. Choose versatile pieces you can mix and match, limit yourself to 2–3 pairs of shoes, and plan around your actual itinerary instead of those “just in case” outfits. Your luggage (and shoulders) will thank you later. 😉

You’re not imagining it! Sites often lead with the lowest possible starting price to grab your attention.

But here’s what that “from” price may not include:

❌ Seat selection
❌ Airport transfers
❌ Flexible cancellation options
❌ Better room categories or views
❌ Direct flights or desirable flight times
Sometimes that amazing deal is real… but it may come with tradeoffs like long layovers, overnight flights, very early departures, multiple connections, or less desirable rooms.

💡 A smart traveler looks beyond just the first number on the screen. Before booking, always check:
✔️ Flight times & layovers
✔️ Whether flights are direct
✔️ Exact room category
✔️ Baggage rules
✔️ Resort fees & taxes
✔️ Cancellation policies - make sure it's refundable!
✔️ What perks are actually included

🌴☀️The cheapest package is not always the best value! But, jump on those deals if they do meet your needs!!! My goal is to help you feel confident in what you’re booking so there are fewer surprises and more time enjoying your vacation. A good deal should still be a GOOD experience 🌴☀️
