Are you a Canadian passport holder who was born outside of Canada? If, in the past, you had a passport from another country and you are planning to travel to that country, you may be required to travel on your passport from that country. Failure to comply with the entry requirements set may result in denied entry.
Some examples:
United States: U.S. born citizens (including dual citizens) are required to travel to the United States by air or car, using a valid U.S. passport.
United Kingdom: If you’re a Canadian citizen but also a citizen of the United Kingdom or Ireland, you cannot apply for an ETA. You must travel on your British, Irish, or British overseas territories citizen passport.
Thailand: If you are a dual citizen, you must enter and exit Thailand with your Thai nationality passport.
South Africa: Dual citizens can use a foreign passport outside of South Africa, but you must enter and exit South Africa using a valid South African passport. Entering or leaving the country on a foreign passport is illegal and can cause border delays
