Disney has brought back a new style of store. While I am thrilled she is finally here, the weekend was very confusing for many who drove several cities and hours to only be rejected by a QR code and virtual queue. These Limited Time Disney Stores are not the same nostalgia you may have grown up on, but I’m tickled to have any form of Disney less than a plane ride away. While we missed out on the Pittsburgh shirts and city specific merch from opening day, we were lucky to have a return queue time for Sunday.
Hopefully things are almost normal today for the holiday, but I will not return just yet…maybe this is how park locals feel. Anywho! Despite having a reservation, we didn’t really have anyone check if we had something legit. We checked in via the website, but no one checked our reservation once we got in line. Even with an hour before mall close, there was a small line. We walked in and saw a fraction of the merchandise advertised by others - which is totally fine.
If that’s a successful weekend, I will wait *patiently* for a restock of that Pittsburgh shirt. I would love to see a Pittsburgh mini series of merchandise or any form of collabs with local businesses. If the Disney parks have Heinz mustard packets but not ketchup pumps in the parks, surely they can make something Pittsburgh beyond the shirt if it was a limited run. I’m just saying. Truly I am so excited for the next few months with many side quests to visit this little corner of Magic.
