Canada has updated its citizenship law to make it fairer and more consistent for families in Canada and abroad.

As of December 15, 2025, Bill C-3 is now in effect.
• People born before this date who would have been Canadian if not for old rules or the first-generation limit are now considered citizens and can apply for proof of citizenship.
• Going forward, a Canadian parent born or adopted abroad can pass on citizenship to their child born/adopted outside Canada—if they can show 3 years of physical presence in Canada before the child’s birth or adoption.

These changes affirm long-awaited rights for many families and strengthen the principle that real ties to Canada guide citizenship by descent.

📌 Why this matters:
These changes remove outdated limits that previously prevented many children of Canadian parents from becoming citizens — strengthening family unity and fairness in citizenship law.

🇨🇦 Nghề di trú – vui nhất là khi thấy chữ “Approved”, buồn nhất là khi thấy chữ “Refused”. (English version bellow)

If there is approval, we celebrate with you.
If there is refusal, we stand with you.
Because your journey is our responsibility. ❤️

🇨🇦 In the immigration profession, nothing is happier than seeing “Approved,” and nothing is heavier than seeing “Refused.”

Working in this field teaches you that every application is more than paperwork — it carries the dreams, worries, pressure, and hopes of an entire family.
There are nights spent working until 2–3 a.m., checking every tiny detail to avoid mistakes.
There are moments explaining a refusal to a client, feeling your voice shake because you know how much they were hoping for a different result.

But then there are bright days like today — when multiple clients’ Work Permit and Visitor Record applications all come back APPROVED.
Sometimes, just hearing “I got approved!” is enough to make all the exhaustion disappear.

💙 We celebrate our clients’ joy.
💙 We carry their worries with them.
💙 And we remind ourselves to lead this profession with heart first, skills second.

Thank you to everyone who has trusted TACA to stand beside you — from the smallest documents to the biggest milestones of your journey in Canada.

If there is approval, we celebrate with you.
If there is refusal, we stand with you.
Because your journey is our responsibility. ❤️

📢 New Update: “One‑Time Work Permit to Permanent Residence Measure” Announced

Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has confirmed a new temporary policy measure that will provide up to 33,000 permanent residence spots for eligible temporary workers already in Canada.

What we do know:

🔸 The measure is described in Budget 2025 as a one‑time initiative to accelerate the transition of up to 33,000 work permit holders to permanent residence in 2026 and 2027.

🔸 It is targeted at individuals who hold work permits and have established ties in Canada — i.e., they are contributing to the economy and residence.

What we do not yet know (key details still pending):

• Which categories of work permit holders will qualify (e.g., post‑graduation work permits, LMIA‑based work permits, open work permits, etc.).

• What minimum duration of residence or work in Canada will be required, or what job types/NOC/TEER levels will apply.

• When the pathway will officially open, how applications will be managed (first‑come, regional quotas, priority basis, etc.).

• How this measure will interact with existing permanent residence programs (such as the Canadian Experience Class or provincial nominee programs).

• Whether the 33,000 spots will be split evenly across 2026 and 2027, or concentrated in one of those years.

What this means for you:

Since eligibility and operational instructions aren’t yet published, it’s wise not to pause your current immigration strategy or assume you automatically qualify. Keep informed and prepare to respond quickly once IRCC releases full guidelines. According to analysis, while the announcement is encouraging, many in‑Canada applicants may still face delays or uncertainty.

🕓 Stay tuned: As soon as IRCC publishes the official policy or operational instructions, we’ll share a full breakdown, eligibility checklist, and step‑by‑step application guide.

🚨 Canada to Cut Temporary Resident Admissions Starting 2026

In a major policy shift, IRCC has announced a sharp reduction in the number of temporary residents (TRs) — including international students and foreign workers — to restore balance in housing, labour markets, and infrastructure.

📊 Planned Reductions:
• 2025: 673,650
• 2026: 385,000
• 2027–2028: 370,000

This marks one of the most significant slowdowns in TR intake in recent years, reflecting Ottawa’s focus on long-term sustainability and population management.

🎯 The government aims to:
✅ Strengthen the integrity of study and work permit programs
✅ Prioritize permanent residency pathways
✅ Balance labour market needs with available housing and social services

How do you think this will affect future international students and workers in Canada?
