This page provides information about our tour group, which travels all over the world. These tours included trips to every corner of the world.

Dr. Milton Wheeler, a well known history professor at William Carey University, began organizing tours for his students and friends in the late 1960s. After Dr. Wheeler's health made it impossible for him to continue leading these tours, Robert Byrd, one of his former students and a frequent traveler with the group, agreed to continue to schedule trips with Dr. Wheeler's input and guidance. Since 2012 the travel group, led by Robert, have traveled to the following countries: Holland, Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Ireland, Italy, Greece, Croatia, Austria, Slovakia, The Czech Republic, Poland, Hungary, France, Israel and Jordan. Our current trips planned for 2014 include, England, Wales, Scotland and France. Our group is comprised of people of all ages and walks of life. Our regular travelers come from all regions of Mississippi, as well as Louisiana, Alabama, Texas, Florida, California, Washington, and other states. We always welcome new people who share our love of travel.

In May our group is going to France. We have planned a packed itinerary, which will highlight the best of Paris, with three full days to explore the “City of Lights”. We then continue to Rouen, the ancient capital of Normandy, before spending an entire day dedicated to the Normandy D-Day invasion sites around Bayeux. From Normandy we continue south through the heart of France to the beautiful Loire Valley, full of vineyards and Renaissance Chateaus. It will definitely be a fantastic tour. I still have space if anyone wants to join us. Message me if you are interested.

Yesterday we finished another wonderful European group trip, as most of the group returned home. Several stayed longer in Amsterdam, one flew East to a former Soviet country, and I flew west, back to England. I will be here and in Scotland for the next week or so scouting for future group trips. Yesterday and today I have been in Stratford-Upon-Avon. Tomorrow I head to northern England. These are pictures from my 7 mile hike today. The weather was more typically British, 70 degrees and misty, but it felt great to me!!

This afternoon we traveled outside of Amsterdam to visit a dairy farm which produces the delicious Gouda cheese, one of my favorites. We also explored Dutch windmills, which have been used for 400 years to drain and reclaim land.

This morning we are in Amsterdam, and for the first time on this trip we had a little bit of precipitation, however, that did not interfere with our explorations.

Today we docked in Antwerp, Belgium, the principal city of the former empire of Flanders, which had its primary dominance in the 16th and 17th centuries. We enjoyed exploring the city with our very knowledgeable guide. This evening we set sail for our final destination, Amsterdam.

This morning we drove from Frankfurt to Cologne, Germany. We toured the city, and especially the 800 year old Gothic Cathedral. We then reboarded our riverboat in Maastricht, Netherlands.

Today we traveled to Heidelberg, Germany, where we had a guided tour of Heidelberg Castle, taking in the ruins of the magnificent renaissance structure towering above the city and its famed Great Vat, the “World’s Largest W**e Barrel”. Later we had some time to explore more of the city on our own. We are now on our way to Frankfurt for the night.

Today we are in France. This morning we had a guided tour of Strasbourg, including Strasbourg’s Gothic Cathedral with its incredible medieval stained-glass windows, celebrated ancient murals and amazing 15th century astronomical clock. We also visited Strasbourg’s magical La Petite France District, and many other sites in the city.
