Hidden ethnic wonder in Guizhou, China: our 7-day off-grid adventure (Aug 7–13) blends wild nature, rare indigenous cultures and hands-on local experiences!

We kick off in Leishan, staying at Mu Yun Jian, a hillside Miao stilt-house boutique preserving traditional rural design. Dive into Miao heritage: carve wooden spoons with elder craftsmen, fish in terraced rice paddies, and join a vibrant long-table feast with sour soup fish, cured smoked pork and Miao ladies’ rice wine toasting rituals. Glide on SUP boards over misty Balag River and secluded Qinglongtan, surrounded by green peaks and clear water, perfect for nature lovers.

Next, we visit Langde Shang Village before heading to Zali D**g Village, home to UNESCO-listed D**g Grand Chorus—harmonious, unaccompanied folk singing passed down for generations.

The highlight: Basha Miao Village, China’s last legally recognized gun tribe. Local men wear lifelong topknots, carry antique flintlock guns and curved waist knives, and perform iconic sickle hair-shaving ceremonies. Catch lively lusheng folk dances and hear ancient migration stories from village elders.

We then explore Yao Gu Buyi Village to make natural indigo tie-dye textiles, a one-of-a-kind handmade souvenir. Later, trek Maolan Karst National Reserve, a core UNESCO South China Karst site with 91% forest coverage. Wander primeval woods spotting rare plants, hike 4-hour limestone caves lined with stalactites, and enjoy a unique underground cave afternoon tea with local glutinous rice cakes and wild honey water.

Taste authentic ethnic food across villages: D**g herbal beef soup, stinky sour tofu stew, and slow-bone beef noodles.
This small-group trip balances soft outdoor activities (SUP, stream trekking, cave hikes) with deep cultural immersion across Miao, D**g and Buyi minorities—far less crowded than mainstream China travel spots. Depart from Guiyang, wrap up on Day7 with flights back to Beijing.

If you’re chasing untamed landscapes, living ancient folk traditions and genuine rural China vibes, this Guizhou secret route is unmissable!
