One of the most iconic coastlines in the US seen from a completely different perspective! ⛵️
Most people experience Big Sur from Highway 1, winding along the cliffs. But Christy and David Kamenar took to the water and saw this legendary stretch of California coastline from the sea! 🦦
From their logbook:
“Long and beautiful day ☀️ We departed Monterey in the morning and motored all the way to San Simeon in dead calm conditions. We let out the genoa when we finally got around 10 kts of wind mid-afternoon, but the wind died almost as quickly as it appeared. We saw a pod of cetaceans around Pebble Beach. One of their fins looked mysteriously like an orca’s, but the rest of the pod definitely did not, so I’m still not sure what they were. This stretch of coast was some of the most beautiful coastline we’ve ever sailed past, with beautiful mountains and beaches just north of Point Sur. We saw Bixby Bridge and McWay Falls from afar, as we stayed around 3 nm offshore...”
