🏰🏔️ The Best Day Trips from Munich – Which One Would You Choose? 🇩🇪

One of the things I love most about Munich is that some of the most beautiful places in Bavaria are just a day trip away. ❤️

Want to stand on top of Germany’s highest mountain, the Zugspitze? 🏔️ Explore Neuschwanstein Castle? 🏰 Cruise across beautiful Lake Königssee? 🚤 Discover King Ludwig II’s Herrenchiemsee Palace? 👑 Or perhaps even cross the border for a day in Salzburg or Innsbruck? 🇦🇹

There are so many possibilities that choosing can actually become the hardest part. 😉

That’s exactly why I put together my new guide to some of my favorite day trips from Munich – including travel times, what makes each destination special, and a few personal tips from someone who spends a good part of the year driving around Bavaria with guests. 😊

👉 Read my guide: The Best Day Trips from Munich

And of course, you don’t have to explore Bavaria on your own.

If you’d rather sit back, relax and let me take care of the planning, driving, tickets and all those little details along the way, it would be my pleasure to show you Bavaria personally. 🍻

📅 I’m already accepting bookings for 2027, and with my 2026 calendar almost completely filled, planning ahead is definitely recommended.

🚋🇩🇪 Sightseeing in Munich for the Price of a Tram Ticket? Meet Tram 21! 😉

Not every sightseeing tour in Munich needs a big red bus.

One of my favorite little tips for exploring the city on your own is Munich’s Tram 21 – sometimes nicknamed the “Sightseeing Tram.” 🚋❤️

Why?

Because for the price of a normal public transportation ticket, you can simply sit back, look out the window and pass several interesting parts of Munich along the way.

It’s certainly not a replacement for exploring Munich’s Old Town on foot, but if your feet need a little break after a long day of sightseeing – or you simply enjoy discovering a city like a local – it’s a fun and inexpensive addition to your Munich adventure. 😊

I’ve put together a complete guide explaining where Tram 21 goes, what you can see along the route, where I recommend getting on and how to turn an ordinary tram ride into a little sightseeing experience.

👉 Read my Munich Tram 21 – Sightseeing Tram Guide here:

https://thebavarianguide.com/munich-tram-21-sightseeing-tram/

Sometimes you don’t need an expensive sightseeing ticket to discover Munich.

You just need the right tram. 😉🚋

Would you give Tram 21 a try on your next visit to Munich?

🏰🌫️ Neuschwanstein Castle… Just a Little More Mysterious Today! 😉

Not every visit to Bavaria comes with blue skies and postcard-perfect views.

Today, Neuschwanstein Castle was hiding in the clouds – and somehow, I think it made King Ludwig II’s fairytale castle look even more magical. ❤️

One thing I always tell my guests: we can’t control the Bavarian weather, but we can make the best out of every adventure.

Sunshine or fog… Neuschwanstein is always worth seeing. 🏰

What do you think – magical or spooky? 👻😉

🍺🎶 When the Entire Oktoberfest Tent Starts Singing “Sweet Caroline”… 🎶🍺

This is one of those moments when you really understand what the Oktoberfest atmosphere is all about. ❤️

Thousands of people inside one b**r tent, Maßkrüge in the air, everyone standing on the benches, singing together and celebrating…

And then the band starts playing:

🎶 Sweet Caroline… 🎶

At that point, it doesn’t really matter where you come from. For a few minutes, the entire tent feels like one enormous group of friends. 😂🍻

That’s Oktoberfest!

Of course, enjoying moments like this is even better when you know you already have your own reserved table waiting for you. 😉

If you’re coming to Munich for Oktoberfest 2026, I still have a limited number of lunch table reservations available on selected dates.

No searching for a free table.
No wondering whether you’ll get inside.
Just arrive, sit down, order your first Maß and enjoy the Wiesn! 🍺🥨🎡

👉 Check my remaining Oktoberfest 2026 table reservations here:

Availability is limited and once the remaining tables are gone… they’re gone.

So, tell me:

Who would be standing on the bench singing “Sweet Caroline” with me? 😂🍺🙋‍♂️

🍺🥨 Where Would a Local Actually Eat in Munich’s Old Town? 🇩🇪

Whenever guests spend a few days in Munich, sooner or later I get the same question:

“Sepp, where should we eat?” 😄

And I completely understand why!

Munich’s Old Town has hundreds of restaurants, b**r halls and cafés. Some are fantastic. Some are very touristy. And some places I personally wouldn't necessarily choose when there are so many better options just around the corner. 😉

So I finally sat down and put together a list of my personal restaurant recommendations in Munich’s historic center.

These aren't simply restaurants I found somewhere online. They are places I actually know, places I enjoy myself and places I'm happy to recommend to my guests. ❤️

Of course, you'll find some proper Bavarian classics on the list – because you can't come to Munich without enjoying Bavarian food and a cold b**r! 🍺🥨

And yes… I also talk about the famous Hofbräuhaus. 😉🍺

If you're planning a trip to Munich in 2026, 2027 or beyond, save this one somewhere. You might be very happy you did when you're standing in the Old Town wondering where to have dinner. 😄

👉 Discover my personal Munich restaurant recommendations here:

https://thebavarianguide.com/munich-restaurant-recommendations/

And now I'm curious:

If you've already been to Munich, where did you have your favorite Bavarian meal? 👇🍽️

Maybe there's still a restaurant missing from my list that I need to try. 😉

Sepp 🍻

🏔️🇩🇪 The Famous Eagle’s Nest – Even the Clouds Can’t Ruin This Adventure! ☁️

Of course, when I take guests to the famous Eagle’s Nest (Kehlsteinhaus), I’m always hoping for blue skies, sunshine and those incredible panoramic views across the Bavarian and Austrian Alps. ☀️🏔️

But… this is the Alps. 😉

Sometimes the weather has its own plans!

These videos are from one of those days when the clouds decided to join us. And you know what?

I still think the Eagle’s Nest is absolutely worth visiting. ❤️

The journey itself is already part of the experience: driving through beautiful Berchtesgaden, taking the special mountain bus up the spectacular Kehlstein road, walking through the historic tunnel and finally riding the famous brass elevator inside the mountain.

And then, of course, there is the history.

Standing at 1,834 meters (6,017 ft) and learning about the role this place played during one of the darkest chapters of German history makes a visit memorable even when the mountains are hiding behind the clouds.

The best part? You don’t have to stay in Munich to experience it with me.

🚗 I can pick you up for your private Eagle’s Nest adventure from Munich, Berchtesgaden OR Salzburg.

🏔️💦 One of Bavaria’s Most Beautiful Day Trips – Lake Königssee & Obersee! 🇩🇪

There are places in Bavaria that I can visit again and again and somehow never get tired of them.

Lake Königssee is definitely one of those places. ❤️

Surrounded by the dramatic mountains of Berchtesgaden National Park, Königssee almost feels more like a Norwegian fjord than a Bavarian lake.

Our adventure begins with one of my favorite parts of the day: a relaxing boat ride across the crystal-clear waters of Lake Königssee. 🚤🏔️

Along the way, we pass the famous St. Bartholomä Church with its beautiful red onion domes – probably one of the most photographed places in Bavaria and exactly the view you can see in this picture.

But we don’t necessarily have to stop there. 😉

If you would like to experience even more of this beautiful region, we can continue by boat all the way to Salet at the southern end of the lake.

From there, we continue on foot toward Lake Obersee – a smaller, quieter alpine lake surrounded by towering mountains and absolutely breathtaking scenery.

And if you’re in the mood for a little more walking, we can continue along Obersee toward the famous Fischunkelalm and deeper into one of the most beautiful corners of Berchtesgaden National Park. 🥾🌲

This is exactly what I love about my private adventures:

Your vacation. Your time. Your pace. 😊

We can take it easy, stop for photographs, enjoy the scenery, go for a longer walk or simply sit somewhere for a few minutes and take in the incredible surroundings.

And naturally, somewhere along the way we’ll also make time for a proper Bavarian lunch. 🍺🥨

Would you like me to personally show you Lake Königssee & Obersee?

🚗🏔️ Thinking About Renting a Car for Your Bavaria Adventure? Read This First! 🇩🇪

One of the questions I regularly receive from travelers is:

“Sepp, should we rent a car in Bavaria?”

And depending on your itinerary, my answer is often YES! 😊

Munich itself is incredibly easy to explore using public transportation. But once you want to discover the Bavarian countryside, beautiful lakes, small villages, the Alps and places away from the usual tourist routes, having your own car gives you a completely different level of freedom.

So I put together a new guide with my personal tips for renting and driving a car in Munich & Bavaria. 🚙

I cover things such as choosing the right rental car, where to rent, driving in Germany, the famous Autobahn, parking, speed limits and those little things that can easily surprise first-time visitors.

And yes… despite what you may have heard, Germany DOES have speed limits! 😂

We also have speed cameras – plenty of them. 😉 So keep an eye on those signs and rather spend your hard-earned vacation money on a nice Bavarian dinner and b**r than on a speeding ticket. 🍺🥨

Planning to drive beyond Germany? 🇦🇹🇨🇭🇮🇹

Remember that countries such as Austria, Switzerland and Italy have different motorway toll and vignette systems, so it's worth preparing before crossing the border.

👉 Read my complete Car Rental Munich & Bavaria Guide here:
https://thebavarianguide.com/car-rental-munich-bavaria/

And perhaps most importantly:

Don't rush your Bavaria road trip.

Sometimes the best moments aren't the famous attractions at all. They're that beautiful lake you suddenly discover, the little village you weren't planning to visit, or the traditional Gasthaus you find somewhere along the way. ❤️🏔️

That's exactly why I love road trips through my home state so much.

Your vacation. Your car. Your time. 😊

Sepp 🍻

🍺🥨 Oktoberfest 2026 – Last Lunch Tables Available! 🇩🇪

Are you coming to Munich for Oktoberfest 2026 and still looking for a guaranteed place inside one of the famous b**r tents?

Then I may have some good news for you! 😊

I still have a small number of lunch table reservations available for selected dates during Oktoberfest 2026.

And as many of you probably know, getting a proper table reservation at Oktoberfest – especially when traveling with a group – can be quite a challenge.

Depending on the reservation, the available tables include either b**r & meal vouchers or table credit that you can use inside the tent. 🍗🍺

Most Oktoberfest tables accommodate approximately 8–10 people, making them perfect for families, friends or groups traveling together.

Please keep in mind: these are lunch reservations, and availability is now very limited. Once the remaining tables are gone, they're gone.

👉 See my remaining Oktoberfest 2026 tables, dates & details here:
https://thebavarianguide.com/oktoberfest-2026-table-reservations/

The available tables are sold as the reservation itself and, depending on the table, the included vouchers or table credit. My personal guiding services are NOT included.

However… if you'd like me to personally join you and turn your Oktoberfest visit into a complete Bavarian experience, my guiding services can of course be booked separately. 😊🍻

If Oktoberfest 2026 is on your bucket list, I wouldn't wait too long. Reservations are available first come, first served.

Maybe I'll see you at the Wiesn! 🍺🥨🎡

Servus,
Sepp 🍻
