Ticket prices at the Grand Egyptian Museum will increase from November 1st, with rises ranging from 10% to 16.6% depending on nationality and residency status.
​Egyptian visitors will pay EGP 220, up 10%, while tickets for Egyptian students, children and senior citizens will rise to EGP 110.
​Foreign visitor tickets will increase by around 16.6% to EGP 1,830. Foreign students and children will pay EGP 920, while foreign residents in Egypt will also pay EGP 920. Tickets for foreign resident students and children will rise to EGP 460.
​Around four million people visited the museum between its official opening in November 2025 and the end of August 2026, according to Tourism Ministry figures. Museum CEO Ahmed Ghoneim said in July that foreign visitors accounted for 60% of attendance, while Egyptians made up 40%.

New Fixed Balloon Experience Coming to the Giza Pyramids 🛸🛸🛸

A new attraction is set to offer visitors a completely different perspective of the Giza Pyramids.

Egypt’s Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, Sherif Fathy, recently inspected the progress of a new fixed balloon project being developed in the Giza Pyramids area. The project is being implemented by Tashreef for Tourism Marketing in cooperation with French company Aerophile, a global specialist in tethered balloon attractions.

The fixed balloon is expected to become the first attraction of its kind in the vicinity of the Giza Pyramids, adding a new recreational experience for both local and international visitors.

A panoramic view from 150 meters

The balloon will be anchored to the ground and will move vertically up and down, reaching a height of approximately 150 meters above ground level.

The entire experience is expected to last around 15 minutes, giving visitors a panoramic view of the Giza Pyramids, the Sphinx, and the surrounding landscape from a completely different vantage point.

Visitors will also be able to learn more about the archaeological site during the experience. Special audio and visual equipment will provide information about the pyramids and other important monuments in 12 different languages.

Designed to protect the archaeological landscape

According to Aerophile project manager Eric Bachelier, particular attention has been given to protecting the archaeological environment and the unique visual character of the Giza plateau.

The attraction is being built in a desert area outside the immediate archaeological boundaries. It is located approximately 2 kilometers from the pyramids and 2.2 kilometers from the Sphinx, at a distance intended to minimize any impact on the iconic landscape.

The project uses lightweight, prefabricated structures that can be dismantled and reassembled. According to the company, no underground excavation or concrete construction affecting the soil has been carried out, helping to protect the archaeological area.

Safety and environmental standards

The Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities emphasized that safety, security, environmental sustainability, and preservation of the area's archaeological character and visual identity are among the project's highest priorities.

The technology used for the balloon is designed to meet international safety and sustainability standards.

Minister Sherif Fathy described the project as a new addition to the tourism experience at the Giza Pyramids, saying that it would give visitors the opportunity to see one of the world's most famous archaeological sites from a new perspective.

The project is now approaching the trial-operation stage, and the Minister expressed his intention to experience the balloon himself during the testing phase.

Once operational, the new attraction could become an additional highlight for visitors to the Giza Pyramids, combining panoramic views, educational content, and a new way to experience one of Egypt's most iconic landmarks.

News visit system for the Giza plateau

Starting April 8th
A new visit system for the Giza plateau area, the Marriott Mena House entrance will be closed permanently, and visitors to the pyramids will enter through the Fayum Road.

Visitors will pass through the newly created visitor centre, and private cars and tour buses will no longer be allowed in the area. Visitors to the pyramids will leave their bus and take the hop-on, hop-off" electric buses to transport visitors from the visitor centre to seven stations.

These are the lines for the Pyramid shuttle bus.
1- Yellow: Exercise area.
2- Green: Lounge 9.
3- Red: Main visitor line (Panorama - Menkaure - Khafre - Sphinx).
4- Black: Khufu Center.
5- Blue: The line connecting the second pyramid to the first pyramid.
You can exit through the Sphinx Gate on foot and meet the bus outside.

Air Cairo will begin, as of October 29, 2023, operating a weekly flight between Madrid and Sharm el Sheikh

The advantage that the new trip to Sharm El-Sheikh adds to the Egyptian tourism product, which enables the Spanish tourist to combine antiquities tourism with beach tourism in Egypt, taking advantage of Aircairo’s international network from Spain to Luxor.
