There is a street in Barcelona where you can literally touch both walls at the same time.

It’s called Carrer de Salomó ben Adret.

Most tourists just see a claustrophobic medieval alley. (Or a nightmare for anyone trying to carry a large shopping bag).

Here’s the thing about exploring the old city of Barcelona. Anyone can walk the narrow alleys of the El Call neighborhood on their own, look at the ancient stone buildings, and think "Wow, this is pretty."

I get this message a lot. And because I have a strict "no client left behind" policy, this is exactly when my job turns into an action movie.

You get to experience the smooth, relaxing, boutique Barcelona vacation. But behind the scenes? I’m frantically messaging 12 different local WhatsApp groups, hunting for a canceled ticket like it’s a winning lottery ticket.

I will always move mountains to make sure you get that perfect Gaudi photo. That's what I'm here for.

"Is it safe for us to visit right now?"

Lately, my inbox looks like a crisis management center. This is the #1 question I get from Jewish-American families planning their trip to Barcelona.

I could easily send them a polished PR brochure about how magical the city is.

I don't. I just tell them the truth.

Yes, antisemitism is up. We see it. I'm not going to gaslight you into thinking it's not there.

But here is what you don't see on the news—the part you only know when you actually live here on the ground:

Our police actually do their job. (Shocking, I know). They take the security of Jewish visitors incredibly seriously, and their presence is felt.

We have a massive, stubborn, and highly active Jewish community working behind the scenes. Just a few months ago, we didn't hide. We stood in the middle of the city’s main square with the Chief Rabbi and lit a giant Hanukkah menorah.

My guides, like Ela, are out in these streets every single day. We feel safe living here, and we feel protected working here.
