Real story from today – 05/06/2026, around 17:30.

This afternoon I received a call from a hotel in Playa d’en Bossa.

I went to pick up the clients, and two American women, around 30 years old, got into my taxi. They asked to go to Ibiza Port.

On the way, they asked me how much a taxi would normally cost from their hotel in Playa d’en Bossa to UNVRS.

I told them: around €22, more or less.

They went completely pale.

So I asked them what was wrong.

They told me that the night before, Uber had charged them €70 for that same journey.

I invited them to check the taxi price list from the Playa d’en Bossa area to different destinations around the island. They started going through the list, and one of them said she honestly felt sick thinking about how much money they had wasted using Uber instead of the island’s public taxis.

They explained that in the USA they are used to Uber being cheaper than a normal taxi.

But Ibiza is not the USA.

Moral of the story:

Do not arrive with preconceived ideas.

Before using Uber in Ibiza, check the local taxi prices first.

The public taxi service in Ibiza has official rates, a taximeter, and clear prices.

Sometimes what looks “modern” or “easy” is simply much more expensive.

Taxi fares in Ibiza could increase this summer after more than four years without any fare updates.

The proposed new fares are:

Flag drop: €4.35

Day rate: €1.32/km

Night rate: €1.60/km

Airport/Port supplement: €2.15

At the moment, these fares are NOT official.

The proposal has received initial approval but still needs to complete the remaining administrative procedures before it can come into effect. No official implementation date has been confirmed yet.

As soon as there is a final approval and confirmed start date, Taxi Ibiza Prices will keep you updated.

Remember:

Taxi fares are regulated by law.

Prices are per taxi, not per person.

Up to 4 passengers can travel in a standard taxi.

Sant Antoni has made it very clear for summer 2026: what many visitors think is “normal in Ibiza” can now come with a serious fine.

The Town Hall has launched its Responsible Tourism campaign to remind tourists that Ibiza is not a free-for-all and that breaking local rules can be expensive.

Some of the fines highlighted in the official campaign:

- Drinking alcohol in the street (botellón): €1,500
- Nitrous oxide (“laughing gas”): from €750 to €3,000
- Urinating in public: €750
- Walking shirtless outside bathing areas: €750
- Buying from illegal street sellers: €500
- Noise and disturbances: €750
- Using an illegal taxi (taxi pirata): €600

Yes, you read that right.

Taking a pirate taxi in Sant Antoni can get YOU fined too — not just the driver.

And let’s stop with the myth that pirate taxis are “cheaper”…

Many of them actually charge MORE than a legal taxi.

So you pay more… in an unlicensed car… with no taximeter… no regulated fare… no proper public transport insurance… and now you can get fined as well.

That’s not a bargain. That’s just a bad decision.

Official taxis in Ibiza are easy to identify:

- White taxi
- Green roof light
- Blue license plate

If someone approaches you in the street, outside clubs or in busy tourist areas offering a “cheap taxi”… think twice.

Because in Ibiza, pirate taxis are often more expensive than the real thing.

Did you know that in Sant Antoni, using an illegal taxi can cost you a €500 fine?

Yes - not just the driver.

Sant Antoni de Portmany has included this warning in its Responsible Tourism campaign, reminding visitors that using pirate taxis is not only illegal, but can also lead to fines for passengers too.

And here’s the irony…

Many pirate taxis don’t even save you money. In Ibiza, they often charge MORE than official taxis.

Why risk it?

No official driver identification

No taximeter

No passenger protection

No insurance guarantees

Often more expensive than a legal taxi

Possible fines of €500

Official taxis in Ibiza are easy to identify:

White taxi

Blue licence plate

If someone approaches you offering a “taxi” inside or outside the airport, port or nightlife areas… walk away.

No real taxi driver will approach you.

The prices shown are per taxi, not per person.

Each official taxi in Ibiza can carry up to 4 passengers, so if you are a group of 4, you can split the fare between everyone.

Format:

Example:
30 - 35 means approximately €30 during the day and €35 at night.

Important:
These prices are approximate. The final fare can vary depending on traffic, waiting time, the exact pick-up or drop-off point, and the route taken.
