“Life will break you.
Nobody can protect you from that, and living alone won’t either, for solitude will also break you with its yearning.
You have to love. You have to feel.
It is the reason you are here on earth.
You are here to risk your heart.
You are here to be swallowed up.
And, when it happens that you are broken, or betrayed, or left, or hurt, or death brushes near, let yourself sit by an apple tree and listen to the apples falling all around you in heaps, wasting their sweetness.
Tell yourself you tasted as many as you could.”
Louise Erdrich

We are so grateful for all the people we've met along the way to Santiago!! It always dazzled us how each group brings a new spirit, a new approach, a new challenge in each Camino Pilgrimage. We believe that's exactly the sweetness of our job and that's why we try to live by the ancient Camino values and to share it with all of those who honored us with their presence!
Thank you very much, dear friends!
Ultreia Always!

Grateful living is important in the world because in our constant pursuit of more and better we can easily lose sight of the riches that lay right in front of us and within us.
G. Mehta

Our Path of Kindness group is having a great time and, truth must be said, making the best of us arising!!! Those who have walked with us in the past know that the pilgrims are the true guides and this photo, taken by our dear Vítor Rocha is an outstanding example of it!
We can't be more grateful for all of you walking with us, Vitor, Luis and all the people that have been helping us on this very special Camino!!!

“One of the most calming and powerful actions you can do to intervene in a stormy world is to stand up and show your soul. Soul on deck shines like gold in dark times.
The light of the soul throws sparks, can send up flares, builds signal fires, causes proper matters to catch fire.
To display the lantern of soul in shadowy times like these - to be fierce and to show mercy toward others; both are acts of immense bravery and greatest necessity.
Struggling souls catch light from other souls who are fully lit and willing to show it.
If you would help to calm the tumult, this is one of the strongest things you can do.”
- Clarissa Pinkola Estés

Castille never ending gentle hills propelled our group forward allowing conversations flow and evolve in extraordinary directions.
We have a group of friends that know each other since they were 3, studied together and now are walking together, creating incredible memories and bonds that will last forever.

When we walk to the edge of all the light we have
and take the step into the darkness of the
unknown, we must believe that one of two things
will happen: there will be something solid for us to
stand on or we will be taught to fly.
~ Patrick Overto

And, our Path of Kindness group arrived to Ávila, home of one of the oldest best well preserved medieval walls of Europe. After a very special guided visit and learning more about the outstanding legacy of St Theresa we had a great lunch, where we tasted the delicious local food and wines!
Can't wait for tomorrow...

No one can travel into love and remain the same.

Jose Andrés is not only a Camino Pilgrim! He's too a Michelin Star chef and an outstanding human being, leader of the World Central Kitchen project.
The WCK is an non profit organization that feeds needed people for free where needed and they were in Haiti, and still support people from Ukraine and Gaza.
He was in LA recently talking about the Camino experience and a dear camino friend, Laura Wander recorded this little stretch on FB and sent us the raw copy to be shared. Thank you very much, dear Laura!

“I think if I've learned anything about friendship, it's to hang in, stay connected, fight for them, and let them fight for you. Don't walk away, don't be distracted, don't be too busy or tired, don't take them for granted.
Friends are part of the glue that holds life and faith together.
Powerful stuff.”
Jon Katz

And, the friendships that are forged on the Camino are another special gift of this unique Pilgrimage!
Double checking the new Marian Way - The Path of the roses, was a beautiful challenge crowned by making a new friend, Beatriz from Coimbra, the only pilgrim we met along the route, exactly at the last stretch before reaching Fátima's Sanctuary. Beatriz left her home 5 days ago, such as we did, but we had to meet here and arriving 10 minutes before the beginning of the 3:30pm mass. But, the best was about to come when Fr Ron received the presidency because he was the only foreign priest to arrive today!!! And, what a beautiful Mass it was!!!

Thank you very much to everyone that helped us along the way, to our fellow journey pilgrims , Vítor Rocha, Fr. Ron Camarda and Beatriz, and all the friends that were praying for us along the journey and asked us to bring their intentions to the Altar of the World!!

When the soul begins to remember where it truly belongs. The noise of the world slowly fades into silence...
~ Rumi

Yes, it was a 20 miles day and we walked from morning to almost dusk but the soul is in peace nurtured by our fellow pilgrim friends and all the people we've met on the way. At a point, we thought we were lost because the paths we were seeing weren't taking us nowhere near where we were heading. And, after coming back and realizing we were walking in the right direction, after all, we ended up walking below, on the valley along a path we couldn't see.. Camino synchronicity worked again and after a very humble mass under an ancient oak tree and a tasty salty peanuts and red wine lunch, we met the shepherd Mário passing by with his goats and sheep that confirmed we were heading in the right direction and recommended a near place where to have lunch!!!
Today, we have a short day of walking, with sun and mild temperatures and we'll surely take the best of it!
We'll be walking with all of you!
Thank you very much for walking with us!

“There is only the trying.
The rest is not our business.”
- T. S. Eliot

Today it was a loooooong day at the office. We started to walk around 8 am and we finished around 8 pm. We had fado singing with Marta, met pilgrims from Russia, the Dominican Republic, Italy, Ireland, Florida and Nevada.
We passed a little but very special Sanctuary built by a dutch pilgrim, and we walked miles along fields filled with olive trees, cows, helped people with their car and before arriving to the humble village of Alvorge, where we found everything closed, we had a very special mass outside, cherished with the sound of a running fountain and the chirping of the swallow celebrating the end of a beautifulday!!! Fortunately, and being Portugal a country of soups, we had a delicious farmland soup with cabbage, beans and pork and we tasted goat and for dessert we had a Romeo and Juliet: cheese with quince mermelada.
We are tired but the spirit is high and we can't wait for tomorrow!
Thanks much for following us and all your prayers!
