At Ultreia we design pilgrimages on the Camino de Santiago in Portugal and Spain. We met on the Camino Ingles and by combining our shared love of the Camino and professional expertise, we brought Ultreia to life!

And, we stopped! We did a resting day and we went to visit the fantastic Batalha's Monastery, an hidden gem in the center of Portugal.
It's our obligation, as a formal regenerative travel agency, to bring people to places out of the most very charged touristic areas and where one still finds the genuine spirit of this ancient lands.
Tomorrow, we have some surprises saved with a very special visit to another beautiful Sanctuary dedicated to Our Lady and a very special crafting store...

This pilgrimage and group has something specia!
Every single day something outstanding happens!
The group decided to take care of everybody's lunch each day and each day, randomly pilgrims ask to do so.
Living a Camino Pilgrimage surrounded by this examples of human beings is what we live for because as you’ll hear often here that the Camino is much more than the walking and the real journey is the people you're walking with!

I have learned over a period of time to be almost unconsciously grateful--as a child is--for a sunny day, blue water, flowers in a vase, a tree turning red.
I have learned to be glad at dawn and when the sky is dark.
Only children and a few spiritually evolved people are born to feel gratitude as naturally as they breathe, without even thinking.

What an incredible group and Camino this one has been!!! Being able to share this with this incredible persons it's just beyond our imagination.
And, maybe, this it's exactly what the Camino is o is all about: being ourselves, let our true spirit rise, and not being a profession or a title, or a tool.. Just Pilgrims doing what Pilgrims do, helping each other on the journey!

There are excellent breakfasts and there unforgettable ones. In one of the hotels of our Marian Way, PT Coastal and the Camino Divino we work with one Portuguese hotel that, besides the outstanding offer and variety, it crowns it with live piano music!!!
It's to this kind of details that we mentioned about empowering the pilgrimage inside of the pilgrimage...!!!

And, our first day following blue arrows is complete!
We've started from the picturesque city of Caminha, and from the 17th century watch tower with gorgeous weather and outstanding views!
80% of the group was repeating a Camino with us and the spirit was very high during the all day!
We finished the day having lunch near the outstanding fortress of Vila Praia de Ancora, where we'll start from tomorrow.

We started our Marian Way Pilgrimage at the second biggest Portuguese Marian site in Sameiro's Sanctuary and we'll be finishing at biggest one: Fátima!
This is a very special and dear Camino Pilgrimage to us, because we are celebrating our 10th anniversary, walking once again with our dear Sister Joan and Father Jason that walked with us on our first Camino.
Each step will be of gratitude, of friendship, of respect and honor for the past 10 years meeting incredible persons on the way without whom, we wouldn't be able to be where we are today!

And, such as 10 years ago, on a Ultreia Camino Frances we are gathered again, for our newest Marian Way! We'll be following blue arrows, and going South and crossing paths with the flow of pilgrims heading to Santiago. It's unique because although in opposite directions we're all heading home and ourselves. Those we cross paths with know what we'll find ahead, and so do we about theirs...

And, our dear Vitor did the all thing from Rome.
When you think about those that will do the extra mile, remember Vitor!!!
After 70 days and more than 3.000 km, crossing 4 countries, the Swiss and French Alps and the Pyrenees he arrived safely to Santiago's square!!
We feel very honored to have him walking with us and call this outstanding Pilgrim and human being our Camino brother!!

This is how it looks a cap after walking more than 3.000 km!!!
Our dear started in Rome 2 month ago and after crossing the Italian and Swiss Alps, and France we met him in the majestic city of León!!!
It was very special to seeing him again and after a very nice lunch at and meeting again with our dear that we met on the Camino Primitivo in 2015, we can say that was the perfect day!
Vitor has only 300km to go and, in the meantime if you want to wish him a Ultreia, I'm sure he'll highly appreciated!
Welcome home, dear Vitor!!!

I always forget how important the empty days are, how important it may be sometimes not to expect to produce anything, even a few lines in a journal. A day when one has not pushed oneself to the limit seems a damaged, damaging day, a sinful day. Not so!
The most valuable thing one can do for the psyche, occasionally, is to let it rest, wander, live in the changing light of a room.

We are now at home, resting.
Yes, we enjoy doing the extra mile for our pilgrims. We do. That's, too, how we learn, how we grow and how we evolve and learn how to serve better all of those who honor us with their visit, time and trust.
But, now it's time to rest, to contemplate more and be inspired by other gifts of life!!!
Although we are always here, and always ready to walk thar extra mile, we'll be away from social media for a bit.
May we all have an outstanding resting time!
