Finished off my ski guiding season and Ed’s last ski day with a glacier rond.

Sometimes it’s good to make use of the amazing lift infrastructure that is the Aiguille du Midi to access good powder and some aesthetic ski lines. Even if the busyness often puts me off.Although everyone was pretty chilled that day.

Congratulations to Ed for a smooth descent of his dream line. See you next year!

Having battled through some stormy weather earlier this week I think we deserved this one.

Fresh tracks top to bottom on the Vallee Blanche.

Bike to ski season 😁
Up the closed road to Emosson dam, a little bit slower than when the Tour de France riders rode it in 2016.
Then still plenty of snow to ski, even if the visibility was unhelpful.

Good to be out on the planks nonetheless. Not quite what Ed was expecting this week! Good adventure though.

The full mix of weather and conditions around Saas Fee last week. Sunshine, thick cloud, cold mornings, hot afternoons.

We ticked off the classic 4000m peaks: Alphubel, Allalinhorn and Strahlhorn. The highlight being the Hohlaubgrat on the Allalinhorn, proper ski mountaineering followed by fresh snow to ski down on the normal route.

The usual warm welcome and great food in the Tasch and Brittania huts 🙏

Mont Blanc on skis, via the Grand Mulet refuge.

Finally got the weather for Joe, on his second trip. Warm and light winds and a rapid ascent to try and beat the heat in the afternoon.

Some scary seracs up there at the moment. No plans to head back up there anytime soon 😬

Good scenes and much needed encouragement going through the Rosablanche checkpoint on the PDG last week.

Most people had toured over from Verbier, with a few having flown in helicopters which were parked on the glacier below 🤨

This is a pretty major hurdle on the PDG course, with a long hot and crowded boot pack.

What a day (and night) on the Patrouille des Glaciers this weekend. An absolute privilege to guide Catrin and Ollie on perhaps the most famous ski mountaineering race out there.

We had really good weather and conditions for the event, with of course some challenging icy skinning sections and a 7.5km run to reach the snow leaving Zermatt.

Our last minute reserve, Ollie, pulled the plug in the halfway check point of Arolla, after an epic ski through the night on minimal ski days this winter. was on a mission and on top form, and we had a really strong 2nd half of the race finishing after 10hrs 47mins. A fantastic effort and a time to be proud of.

It’s been a winter of PDG coaching and guiding. A total of eleven teams that I’ve helped get to the stat line. Looking forward to the 2028 edition already!

Thanks to for the best skis out there 🙏

A week in Arolla training the British Army skimo teams ahead of the

Plenty of drills and skills alongside some chunky ski touring days along the course.

Always a privilege to work with fit, motivated and fun folk. It’s quite a transition from “normal” ski touring to completing an event like the PDG. Looking forward to tracking all the teams on the mid week event. 💪

Big lines - skinny skis.
A great days guiding on a line I can see from my house.

This was supposed to a PDG prep day. Nothing wrong with getting distracted when the snows good and there’s adventures to be had!
