Bonjour 👋 we thought it was time for a little re-introduction to say hello! We've had a few new followers recently, bienvenue (welcome)!

We're Kathy & Mike, the owners of Gîtes du Marigné in South West France 🇫🇷 we moved to France last October and we're about to celebrate being here for a whole year!

Mike is retired, and keeps busy with our garden (growing his own fruit and potatoes, which he has been harvesting this week) and our pool (which he does a brilliant job of keeping sparkly clean and lovely to swim in)

Kathy runs the gîtes which involves cleaning on changeover days (sometimes with help!), keeping in touch with guests during their stay for anything they might need, and organising new bookings. She also loves to craft and is running her very first craft workshop here in France later this month - which is almost sold out already!

We've shared a couple of videos recently of our 1 and 2 bed gîtes and we've got a video to share soon of our largest 3 bed gîte - so have a look at those and keep an eye out for more!

Late availability at our 3 bedrooms gite.

We have last minute availability at our largest gîte, Chez Hiboux (3 bedrooms, sleeps 6) due to a cancellation. From 19th August to 5th September.

An evening walk at the Gîtes through the wildflower meadow and the poolside garden. Lots of flowers and creatures, pollinators and butterflies. So peaceful and relaxing. Come and find your happy place at 🐝 🦋 🌺

Welcome to a new week here at Gites du Marigne. The pool is looking very inviting with temperatures due to exceed 30 degrees this week ☀️ 💦

Walking around at around 8pm watering 💦 the pots and putting the pool to bed 🛌 has become a favourite part of my day. There’s so much colour in the gardens and the early evening sun ☀️ over the pool area is intoxicating. The honeysuckle smells so sweet and the humming of the bees 🐝 collectively singing, lulls you into total relaxation. We know you’ll love it too.

We have early July availability and September into October too. So if you’re not restricted by school holidays 📅come and see for yourself!

And the pool is open! ☀️🏊‍♀️

Our guests (and us!) have been enjoying the very first splashes of the season this week 🥽

This week it’s (almost) all about the pool! We’ve been to the pool specialist today and got a ‘prescription’ for getting it in tip top shape for the summer. Other jobs include repainting garden furniture, putting up a new car park sign, securing waterproof electrics for outside lighting and a few other jobs.

Lazy Daisy days! 🌼 We are really enjoying the sunnier ☀️ and warmer weather and one of the most fun things at the moment is seeing what beautiful flowers and plants are coming up. This is our first summer so almost every day we are getting new surprises. 🌺

Do you have a favourite flower or plant? What other flowers do you think might show up in the meadow? We know that there were verbena last year but no sign of them yet.

I’ve also planted up some summer flowers in pots outside each gîte and we have some new palms 🌴 round the pool area. They’re fairly small at the moment but will grow for sure.

Have you booked your stay yet? We still have availability in May, June and early July.

We’ve been having some beautiful weather ☀️ with a little rain today which the gardens are happy for. Mike managed to cut the grass in the field earlier and Nutmeg cat 🐈‍⬛ wanted to drive the ‘tractor’! 🚜

We love eating outside. You can too as each gîte has its own private garden as well as the shared pool 🏊🏻‍♀️ 💦, orchard, wildflower meadow and games ⚾️ field. There’s a kettle coal bbq for each gîte too. 🍖 🍗

We’ve added a picnic table to the orchard near the cherry tree and swing and it’s a gorgeous place to enjoy the dappled shade particularly in the early evening. There’s are cherries 🍒 apples 🍎 pears 🍐 peaches 🍑 and plums🍈 growing as well as elderflowers which I’m planning to use to make some cordial this week.

We still have some May, June and July availability if you fancy an early summer holiday. 🌳
