This week it’s (almost) all about the pool! We’ve been to the pool specialist today and got a ‘prescription’ for getting it in tip top shape for the summer. Other jobs include repainting garden furniture, putting up a new car park sign, securing waterproof electrics for outside lighting and a few other jobs.

Lazy Daisy days! 🌼 We are really enjoying the sunnier ☀️ and warmer weather and one of the most fun things at the moment is seeing what beautiful flowers and plants are coming up. This is our first summer so almost every day we are getting new surprises. 🌺

Do you have a favourite flower or plant? What other flowers do you think might show up in the meadow? We know that there were verbena last year but no sign of them yet.

I’ve also planted up some summer flowers in pots outside each gîte and we have some new palms 🌴 round the pool area. They’re fairly small at the moment but will grow for sure.

Have you booked your stay yet? We still have availability in May, June and early July.

We’ve been having some beautiful weather ☀️ with a little rain today which the gardens are happy for. Mike managed to cut the grass in the field earlier and Nutmeg cat 🐈‍⬛ wanted to drive the ‘tractor’! 🚜

We love eating outside. You can too as each gîte has its own private garden as well as the shared pool 🏊🏻‍♀️ 💦, orchard, wildflower meadow and games ⚾️ field. There’s a kettle coal bbq for each gîte too. 🍖 🍗

We’ve added a picnic table to the orchard near the cherry tree and swing and it’s a gorgeous place to enjoy the dappled shade particularly in the early evening. There’s are cherries 🍒 apples 🍎 pears 🍐 peaches 🍑 and plums🍈 growing as well as elderflowers which I’m planning to use to make some cordial this week.

We still have some May, June and July availability if you fancy an early summer holiday. 🌳

We are really pleased to have welcomed guests yesterday to Gîtes du Marigné and the sun is now shining for them ☀️.

Here’s a reminder of what’s available in Chez Tournesol which has two bedrooms and sleeps five. One double bedroom and a triple bedroom 🛌 with a family bathroom 🚿 . There’s a kitchen, a dining area with double opening patio doors and a lounge with large tv, dvd player and log burner 🪵🔥 . There’s a private outside space for Chez Tournesol with table and chairs and a small lawn. As well as the pool 🏊 field 🌱 play area 🛝 and orchard 🍎.

It's been a dream of mine to run craft workshops once we moved to France and this year I finally get to! Starting with a make your own jewellery class this coming Saturday (15th) 💎

Make your own jewellery class. Saturday 15th March 2-5pm. €35

Take home a necklace and earrings or three pairs of earrings which you've designed and made yourself. 🧰

Have you got an outfit you can't find the right accessories for? 👗 Do you have some broken jewellery you'd like to re-purpose? Bring along anything you'd like to incorporate but all tools and materials supplied, so don't worry if you don't have anything to bring.

I've been making my own jewellery for over 15 years and I'll share my passion and tips with you in a really relaxed setting at our gite complex in Savigné. I promise you'll have something to take home that you are proud of.

I have some extra special beads and findings that you can buy on top of your basic price 💍 but there's loads to choose from already included in your €35 so that's only there if you want it. For example I have sterling silver ear wires which are a small extra cost on the silver plated ones included.

The kettle 🫖 will be on and the log fire 🪵 will be lit.

Come along and learn something new, make new friends and have a bit of 'me' time.

Looking for a large gîte to spend time with friends and family? Chez Hiboux sleeps six with two double bedrooms (one with en suite toilet and sink) and a twin bedroom. There’s a beautiful bathroom with twin sinks and a large shower. Downstairs is open plan and a great space for spending time together. There’s an outdoor terrace with table and chairs in its own private garden.

There are also the pool, field, meadow and orchard areas for exploring and relaxing.

Check out our availability calendar on the website if you’d like to come and stay. August is now fully booked but there is plenty availability for other months. May half term is still free as is Easter and most of June and July.

Today we have been in the garden tidying up the hedges around La Petite Maison and Chez Hiboux. It’s been a gloriously sunny day. It’s looking much neater and ready for visitors. Here are the before and after shots.

Pancake Day 🥞

It’s Shrove Tuesday or, as the French say “Fat Tuesday”! I quite like that the French just say it as it is! It’s the day for using up all the fatty foods before the Lent period in the run up to Easter. They also refer to it as Mardi Gras, again meaning Fat Tuesday! ⚜️ 🇫🇷

Here in France it is traditionally celebrated on 2nd February when It is also called La Chandeleur🕯️. This falls 40 days after Christmas and apart from eating lots of pancakes stuffed with all manner of scrumptious fillings, it’s a day for fortune telling and legend!

Well whatever you call it and whichever date you celebrate, the big question is, what do you have with yours? 🍳 🍫 🍌 🍓 🍒 🧈

Welcome to all our new followers! It’s great to have you along for the journey.

Today has been an outdoors day with lots of wood work! We’ve stacked all the new logs 🪵 ready to get us through the remaining cold weather and we’ve cleared round and under the very large tree 🌳 at the entrance to our gîte complex. The daffodils 🌼 will soon be ready to see the sunshine ☀️. Mike has also re oiled the sign and it’s looking much happier. Ready to welcome our 2025 guests.
