What a fantastic map and so easy to read. Great for our walkers on the Wye Valley walk.
Travel lightly with our Public Transport Map for the Wye Valley Walk.
We recently teamed up with map maker Andy Stevenson, from , to create a map showing where buses and trains link up with the route of the Wye Valley Walk.
Applying the principles of Harry Beck’s iconic London Underground map to the complexities of rural long distance walking wasn't as easy as it sounds, but we hope this map will open up the options for using public transport.
The Wye Valley Walk travels through the complex weave of the Welsh and English borderlands, served by a patchwork of local bus and rail operators, including Transport for Wales and a variety of smaller bus service suppliers. We have tried to simplify these links into a single diagram, allowing walkers to identify where a T4 bus, or the Heart of Wales railway line, intersects with the route of the Wye Valley Walk.
We hope this information will give you confidence to leave the car at home and travel lightly through these beautiful rural landscapes.
Did you know you can hail a bus in rural areas, where there isn't a bus stop? This can be really handy to know when following the Wye Valley Walk!
