Rocklea, Little Gruinard The life and times of Rocklea. A self-catering holiday home in the highlands of Scotland; situated on the shore line with private access to the beach.

A log house that sleeps 5 (1 double, 1 twin, 1 single). Little Gruinard is four miles north of Laide and ROCKLEA, which is a log house, stands in its own grounds of around five acres above the shoreline of Gruinard Bay. There is direct and private access to the beach. At the seaward end of the house there is a spacious living area which combines kitchen and dining facilities along with the sitting

room. There are three bedrooms to accommodate five adults, a fully equipped bathroom and a separate W.C. Visitors to the house enthuse about the nearness to nature and wildlife that it offers and binoculars are essential if the bird life, red and roe deer, pine marten, seals and, if you are lucky and patient, otters and possibly even a badger are to be enjoyed to the full from the sitting room window.

Please don't be feeding the birds in ways in which makes them congregate. Bird feeders are the worst. We'll reinstall them in October.

The barrier is “bloomin’ beautiful”, bursting with bulbs…………….

…………….including miniature daffodils, hyacinths, crocus and iris, as well as primulas and pansies, with more to follow, (including tulips, grape hyacinths and violas).
The bulbs were planted in pots at home in the Autumn and have now been “sunk” into the barrier. When each pot has finished flowering, we lift it and replace it with another pot of later flowering bulbs so that we pack in as much colour and interest as possible until we’re ready for our summer bedding plants.
Lots of planning, lots of planting, lots of care, but oh! - so rewarding.

Hi all hope you are all having a great day.
I thought I would just put this out there.
As we are all now aware the Bank of Scotland in Gairloch is closing this is in our opinion is a backwards move particularly for the elderly and those who are not tech savvy, never mind the hard working and diligent staff that man that branch. We are not trying to profit from this situation but are trying to let people in the community be aware of alternatives when this eventually comes to pass.

A lot of speculation about what is to become of services like that here in the area with some suggesting that a certain supermarket should do it. So for clarity we here The Shop At The Pier have a fully maned Post Office counter open 7 days a week that is capable of accepting banking services either personal or buisness. This on top of majority of other postal services gives us the strength to support most needs.So supporting a locally run family buisness can already service most of the needs of our community. Yes we may be a bit further out, by only less than a mile, but I'm sure somehow we can overcome this 💪 so please don't overlooked these services that are available to all.
