Before anyone asks… no, the true star of our visit to Galloway Distillery isn’t the Sassenach whisky… and it isn’t even the incredible Harbour & Hills vodka (though they are all absolutely exceptional). 🥃

It’s Dave. The guide.

One of my favourite parts of every tour is returning here and catching up with him. His passion, knowledge, humour, and genuine warmth make every tasting feel less like a presentation and more like spending time with an old friend. It’s people like Dave who transform wonderful places into unforgettable experiences, and I genuinely look forward to seeing him every single time.

And for the Outlander fans… while Sam Heughan may not be joining us at Galloway Distillery, Dave does happen to wear the very same cologne. Commitment to an authentic experience… or just excellent taste? You decide. 😉

Our wee family just keeps growing. ❤️ There’s something incredibly special about welcoming familiar faces back while adding new ones to the fold. Last night’s dinner in the Cellar at Kimpton Charlotte Square was filled with laughter, stories, and the kind of friendships that make these journeys so much more than a holiday. Slàinte! 🥂

A gifted songwriter, storyteller, and proud native of the Hebrides, Gillebride has spent years preserving and sharing the beauty of Gaelic language and culture. Many will know him from his work as the Gaelic coach for both Outlander and Blood of My Blood, helping bring authenticity and heart to the stories we love.

I am also personally grateful for the generosity he has shown in assisting with some of my own historical and cultural research over the years. His knowledge, passion, and willingness to share his wisdom have been invaluable.
