Barmouth Town Council have contributed to a revamp of the signs at Barmouth Station and a redesign of the information area. You can buy train tickets from the shop. Whilst waiting for your train, pop in to get a souvenir or gift from the shop.

Adventurous walking to some of the most exciting peaks and landmarks in this part of Wales is on offer thanks to the annual Barmouth Walking Festival which starts on Saturday.
Spectacular guided walks are scheduled with places still available to visit the Arans, Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon), the Rhinogydd and the Cadair Idris range.
One of the features of the festival, which runs from September 12 to 21, are a range of A-grade routes which take walkers to the summits of major peaks with the guidance of experienced leaders.
Quite a few walks are now full but still available are places on Ascending the Arans on Thursday, September 17, which heads for the summits of Aran Fawddwy at a lofty 2,970 feet and it’s slightly smaller sister peak Aran Benllyn.
The Rhinogydd behind Barmouth are renowned for their rocky landscapes. On Monday, September 14, a walk called Rugged Rhinog Fawr will take in the summit as part of some of the finest hill-walking in Wales.
This year the festival is also offering the opportunity to ascend the country’s highest peak. The Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon) Circular is on Monday, September 21.
Less strenuous but superb moderate walks also available include High Above The Estuary on Monday, September 21 which is a loop of the high ridge on the South side of the Mawddach estuary.
For a great taste of the beauty of this area there is also Panorama & Passes on Sunday, September 20. This explores the rugged lower slopes of the North side of the Mawddach estuary behind Barmouth.

This Saturday 12th September 2026 is the Hurly Burly. Swimmers go from the Bath House beach to Penmaenpool with the tide. The harbour road / quay will be closed 5:30am until 8:30 am.

Join us for this wild and fast, season-ending 10km swim. First swimmers enter water at 7.35am

The end of the promenade is 1 mile north of the main beach. There is a car park, toilets, Hendre Mynach caravan and touring site, and the Promenade Cafe. There is a steep ramp or some steep steps to get to the beach, which is a lot lower than the promenade at this point. The beach itself is quite sheltered, with the remains of the groynes looking like an Antony Gormley installation.
