Amboseli, the "Land of the Giants", sits on the Tanzanian border and is known for its elephant herds, sweeping vistas, dusty red sunsets, and unrivalled views of Mount Kilimanjaro. It's also one of the last strongholds of the world's Big Tuskers and Super Tuskers. 🐘

We're delighted to feature in Condé Nast Traveller Middle East's guide to tracking chimpanzees—one of Africa's most moving wildlife encounters.

Writer Stuart Butler opens with a scene from Kibale Forest National Park in Uganda, arriving mid-clash between two rival chimp troops, and calls it one of the most intense wildlife experiences of his life. Sharing close to 99 per cent of our DNA, chimpanzees move, problem-solve and show emotion in ways that make the encounter feel remarkably personal—and Kibale, home to around 250 habituated chimps, is named as arguably the best place in the world to see them.

Mahlatini offers tailor-made chimpanzee safaris across Tanzania, Uganda and Rwanda, often paired with gorilla tracking or a classic savannah safari.

We were glad to lend our perspective to Nosihle Zulu's feature for Nomad Africa Magazine on El Niño and what it could mean for travel across the continent this coming season.

Our co-founder, Greg Fox, made the case that this isn't a season to be wary of. "The continent is vast, incredibly diverse and rarely impacted in the same way everywhere," he told the magazine — while Southern Africa may see warmer, drier conditions, East Africa, North Africa and the Indian Ocean islands often tell a different story entirely.

And where it is drier, that tends to work in a traveller's favour: animals gather around permanent water sources, thinner vegetation improves visibility, and wildlife-viewing and photography benefit as a result. "These changes don't necessarily diminish the experience," Greg said. "In many cases, they simply create a different perspective of the destination."

As he put it: "Africa has always been a dynamic destination, and that's part of its appeal."

Would you ever forage for your next meal? 🦪

Out near Cape Point, ReWild Food runs one of the coolest foodie experiences we’ve come across in Cape Town. Forage along the coastline at low tide for seaweed, molluscs and wild greens, or snorkel the kelp forest to see what’s growing beneath the surface.

Whatever you gather, you cook. Mussels in beer, kelp lasagne, edible flowers you’ve picked yourself, all served in their cosy clay home, paired with organic Germanier wines and craft beer from their own brewery.

If you’re the kind of traveller who cares as much about the food as the destination, this is well worth adding to your Cape Town itinerary.

Our travel experts build your trip around more than where you want to go—it’s about what you want to experience too. Start planning with our trip planner: https://tinyurl.com/yzt26bzr.

📍The Red Island.

A land of evolutionary wonders, Madagascar is a sanctuary for nature lovers. Isolated for millions of years and separated from mainland Africa by a vast ocean, it has become a living hub of biodiversity. Home to an array of endemic wildlife—including over 100 species of lemur and seven of the world’s nine towering baobab species—this island is a realm of rare and remarkable encounters. From emerald rainforests to untouched beaches, Madagascar is a destination unlike any other.
