What people don’t realise about holiday availability...

One of the hardest parts of this job is having to pick up the phone and say a client’s flights have just gone, or that hotel they absolutely loved has now sold out… especially when we were right on the edge of securing it.

And the truth is, it happens more than most people realise. Prices move constantly, flight deals disappear in hours, and those perfect little pockets of availability can vanish before you’ve even had chance to think.

So when I say “we need to be quick on this one”, it’s never about pressure and it’s certainly not about rushing anyone. It’s simply about protecting you from disappointment, price increases, or missing out altogether.

If you’re thinking about a trip, even just in the early stages, just pop me a message. I’ll always be straight with you and I’ll always have your best interests at heart from start to finish.

🇺🇬 Uganda: gorillas… and so much more

Most people think of Uganda and immediately picture one thing — mountain gorillas. And yes… nothing quite prepares you for that moment in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, standing in the misty rainforest just a few metres from a wild gorilla family. It’s quiet, powerful, and genuinely one of those life-slowing experiences you never forget.

But what I love about Uganda is this… it doesn’t stop there. It keeps surprising you, again and again.

This is a country that feels raw, real and beautifully untouched — and it rewards every curious traveller with something extraordinary.

Here’s just a little glimpse of what’s waiting for you…

💧 Murchison Falls
Imagine the full force of the River Nile being squeezed through a narrow seven-metre gorge before crashing down into the river below. It’s powerful, dramatic, and completely unforgettable. The surrounding national park is just as special — elephants, giraffes, hippos, crocodiles and hundreds of bird species all sharing the landscape.

🐒 Kibale Forest
A thick, green rainforest alive with sound. This is one of the best places in Africa to trek chimpanzees, guided through the forest to find habituated communities. Watching them interact in the wild is fascinating — intelligent, emotional and surprisingly familiar.

🦁 Queen Elizabeth National Park
Famous for its tree-climbing lions — yes, lions actually lounging in fig trees. It feels almost unreal when you see it. Add in a boat safari along the Kazinga Channel and you’ve got some of the best wildlife viewing anywhere in Africa.

🦓 Lake Mburo
Small but full of character. This is the only park in Uganda where you’ll see impala, and it’s one of the few where you can explore on foot, by bike or even on horseback. Zebra, eland and warthog roaming freely — it’s wonderfully relaxed and easy to combine into a longer itinerary.

🦍 Bwindi Impenetrable Forest
The highlight for many — and for good reason. Home to almost half of the world’s remaining mountain gorillas, this is one of the most sought-after wildlife experiences on earth. Just one hour with a gorilla family changes the way you see wildlife forever. It really is that special.

🏔️ The Rwenzori Mountains
Known as the Mountains of the Moon, this UNESCO-listed range is wild, remote and breathtaking. From multi-day treks to shorter walks through afro-alpine scenery, it feels like stepping into another world entirely.

🛶 Jinja & the Source of the Nile
Where it all begins. The Nile starts its incredible 6,700km journey here, and Jinja has become East Africa’s adventure capital — rafting, kayaking, paddleboarding, bungee jumping… or simply a peaceful boat trip to the source itself.

🤍 And then there’s the people…
Uganda is often called the “Pearl of Africa”, and a big part of that is its warmth. The welcome you receive here stays with you just as much as the landscapes. Community visits and cultural encounters add something really meaningful to any journey.

Uganda is one of those destinations that doesn’t just stay in your passport… it stays with you.

Wild, green, welcoming, and quietly extraordinary in every way.

I would love to go- would you?

Today I've flown out to beautiful Crete and will be spending the next few days at the stunning Grecotel Luxme White hotel, near Rethymnon for our annual conference. ☀️🌊

I thought I'd share some gorgeous photos to give you a little taste of this fabulous resort and perhaps inspire your next holiday!

If there's anything you'd like me to check while I'm here, whether it's the hotel, the facilities, the rooms, the food, or the destination itself, please don't hesitate to ask. I'll be happy to help.

I'm away from my desk until the weekend, but I'll do my best to respond whenever I can between enjoying a little bit of Greek sunshine! 🇬🇷🍹

Enjoy the photos..

Travelling to Europe?
Important Update on the EU Entry/Exit System (EES)

The EU's Entry/Exit System (EES) has now been in operation across European border points for some time and is being used for all UK and other non-EU travellers entering and leaving participating countries.
Whilst many travellers are passing through border controls without issue, there have been reports of longer waiting times at some airports and border crossing points, particularly during peak travel periods. We therefore wanted to provide a brief update on how the system works and what customers can expect when travelling to Europe.

What is EES?
The Entry/Exit System (EES) replaces traditional passport stamping with a secure digital record of when travellers enter and leave Europe.
As part of the process, travellers are required to register biometric information, helping to improve border security and streamline future journeys.
What Happens During Registration?
On your first entry into Europe under EES, border authorities will usually collect:
- A facial image
- Fingerprint scans
This information is securely linked to your passport and retained for future travel.
Children under 12 will generally only be required to provide a facial image.
What Should Travellers Expect?
As airports and border authorities continue to adapt to the new system, processing times can vary depending on a number of factors.
Customers should be prepared for:
- Additional checks during their first EES registration
- Longer queues at immigration during busy periods
- Variable waiting times depending on the airport, destination, time of day and passenger volumes
- Delays which may vary depending on the day of travel and how many flights are arriving or departing at the same time
- Additional document checks at some airports
Whilst many journeys continue to operate smoothly, we recommend allowing extra time and being prepared for delays, particularly during school holidays, weekends and other peak travel periods.
Future Travel
Once your biometric details have been registered, they will generally remain valid for up to three years, meaning future entries into Europe should be quicker and require fewer checks.
You may need to re-register if you obtain a new passport or your stored details expire.
Although your details will be stored for future travel, there is currently no guaranteed fast-track process through European border control for travellers who have previously registered under EES. Waiting times can still vary depending on the airport, time of travel and passenger numbers, so we recommend continuing to allow plenty of time when travelling.

Important Information for Customers with Private Transfers
Outbound Journey (Arrival in Europe)
If you have booked a private transfer, please be aware that longer immigration queues may affect the time it takes you to reach your driver after landing.
Transfer suppliers operate different waiting-time policies. Whilst many providers monitor flight arrivals and allow for reasonable delays, some have a maximum waiting period and may leave the airport if passengers have not made contact within that timeframe.
To avoid any issues, we strongly recommend that you:
- Check your transfer documentation before travel
- Save the emergency contact number for your transfer supplier
- Contact the supplier if you experience significant delays at immigration or baggage reclaim
- Ensure your mobile phone is switched on and able to receive calls and messages on arrival
Please note that if you exceed the supplier's waiting-time policy and have not made contact, your transfer may be treated as a no-show. In these circumstances, you may be required to make your own onward travel arrangements and any associated costs may be your responsibility.
Return Journey (Departure from Europe)
When travelling home, customers should allow extra time for check-in, security and border control procedures.
We recommend arriving at the airport at least three hours before departure and proceeding through airport formalities as soon as possible.
Once through security and border control, please ensure you make your way promptly to your departure gate, as some airports may have additional document checks, queueing systems or longer walking distances between terminals and gates. Whilst it can be tempting to stop for a drink or browse the shops, missing your flight would be at your own risk, so please ensure you leave plenty of time to reach the gate and be ready to board when requested.
Failure to allow sufficient time may result in missed flights, particularly during busy travel periods when passenger numbers are higher.

Top Travel Tips
- Arrive at the airport in good time – we recommend at least three hours before departure for both outbound and return flights when travelling through European border control
- Keep passports and travel documents readily accessible
- Have accommodation and return travel details available if requested
- Ensure your mobile phone is charged and switched on upon arrival
- Allow extra time when travelling to Europe for immigration and border checks
- Be prepared for queues during busy travel periods
