Happy November! Before the party season gets into full swing, I wanted to warmly invite you to our own Christmas party on Tuesday 24th November! Today Britannia is berthed in Rotterdam. We decided to skip the tours and build our own, taking the Water Shuttle from the Erasmus Bridge near the cruise berth (but allow 15 minutes to disembark and walk to the shuttle quay) and sail inland to the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Kinderdijk. We booked it independently and saved approximately 65% versus the cruise excursion. Its windmills galore and a great insight into how so much water was drained away centuries ago to reclaim land in the Netherlands. It’s worth checking the weather forecast before you book the tour as you’d not want torrential rain here. We then headed back into town for a wander and found everyone we spoke to warm and friendly. Rotterdam is increasingly popular with cruise calls, so it’s worth doing your research before you travel. We’ve been lucky enough to be invited to spend 5 nights aboard P&Os Britannia and how could we resist! Initial impressions are a modern ship that offers us Brits a a great way to discover new ports! I had a brief tour of the ship and here are my initial photos! More updates coming soon, I hope you enjoy the photos!
