Looking for something to do this weekend?

Bocking Windmill is open this Sunday 27 April from 11am to 3pm for a fun cheap family day out!

Entry is £2 per adults and kids go free with a paying adult. All proceeds go to the upkeep of the windmill for future generations. All volunteers are unpaid and give up there time for you to enjoy the mill.

BRAINTREE PRIDE IS BACK FOR 2025! 🏳️‍🌈

Braintree Pride is back this year and taking place on 26 July from 12pm to 6pm in Weavers Park!

This year's theme is 'Standing with the T' 🏳️‍⚧️

The event is free to attend and is suitable for all ages, genders and sexual orientations. Allies welcome!

Braintree Town Hall is celebrating it's 97th birthday in May with an afternoon tea!

Join them to celebrate on Wednesday 21st May between 12pm and 3pm!

Tickets are £25 and the afternoon tea made by Something Scrummy will include sandwiches, handmade fruit scones with Tiptree jam and clotted cream, homemade sweet treats and unlimited tea and coffee.

They have prepared a plethora of interesting facts and knowledge on the Town Hall and the site on which it stands, some of which dates as far back as the 1500s.

Spaces must be booked in advance, please call 01376 557776 to book your place.

Looking for Easter fun this weekend? We have been hunting out the best Easter Hunts this weekend!

🥚 Easter Letter Hunt around the village of Great Barfield with an Easter egg at the end, meet at the Co-Op - Easter Sunday 20th April, 10am to 12pm, £2 entry to raise funds for Great Bardfield Pre School.

🥚 Easter Scavenger Hunt at Petersfield Village - Saturday 19 April, 11am to 3pm, £3 booking advised.

🥚 Belchamp Otten Easter Egg Hunt - Saturday 19 April, 10.30am at The Old Rectory, £2 per child, bring your own basket/bucket.

🥚 Sturmer Nurseries Garden Centre Easter Event - Friday 18 April and Saturday 19 April, until 4pm. Easter Scavenger hunt is free, other activities include Build a Bear for £12, Cupcake decorating £5 and paint a plant pot workshop £12.

🥚 Stour Kayak Hire a kayak, canoe, rowing boat or paddleboard, make a £1 donation to one of their charity partners, and set off on an egg-hunting adventure.
Find the hidden Easter eggs, complete the word, and win a prize.

🥚 Colne Engaine Easter Trail Map - Print or collect a map from the village shop and work out the secret word. Then collect your prize. Running until 21 April.

🥚 Witham Easter Egg Hunt - Saturday 19 April at Witham River Walk, free to take part but places need to be pre-book via Witham Town Council

🥚 Halstead Easter Picture Hunt - Runs until 18 April, forms can be picked up from Halstead Town Council or printed from their website, free to enter. Return your completed sheets for a certificate, a treat and a chance to win a special Easter prize in the draw.

🥚 George Yard Shopping Centre Easter Trail - Pick up a form from The Works and hunt for the giant chocolate bars hidden across the shopping centre. Free to enter and claim an egg at the end! Also great prizes up for grabs in the prize draw! Running until 22 April.

If you're looking to tire out the children and keep them occupied without breaking the bank, then why not check out the Animal Mysteries Easter Trail in Great Notley Country Park!

Can you help the Easter Bunny find and count the eggs that are hidden around Great Notley Country Park?

Pick up or download a free Easter trail sheet from the Explore Essex website until Monday 21 April.

Make a day of it, enjoy the children's play trail, lake and open grassland. Bring a picnic, or pick up some hot drinks and snacks from the café.

Just one week to go until the Blake House Craft Centre Easter Craft Fair on Easter Monday 21 April 10am to 4pm.

Enjoy food, drink and craft stalls alongside the other independent businesses based at Blake End.

There is also a free Easter trail for the kids as well as free entry and parking.

Well behaved dogs on leads welcome, but individual stores may have their own policies.

Looking for a fun Easter themed day out? 🥚🐰

Why not pop over to the beautiful Markshall which is running an Easter Trail in the Arboretum.

Search for 20 brightly coloured eggs - it's ideal for kids of all ages (including big kids!) and there's a shorter route for little legs!

The Easter trail is included in general admission and is free for members. Arrive between 10am and 3.30pm. The trail is on until 20 April.

FIRST WINDMILL OPEN DAY OF 2025!

Bocking Windmill will be open today from 11.30am to 3.30pm to visitors, so why not pop down and explore this historic windmill!

Admission to the first floors is £2 per adult and under 16s go free with them. All money goes to keeping the windmill open to visitors and preserving it for generations to come.

EVENTS COMING UP AT BRAINTREE BAPTIST CHURCH!

Braintree Baptist Church has family events coming up that are free to attend!

Tomorrow on Saturday 5 April they are hosting their Bounce Cafe from 10am to 12pm with a free indoor bouncy castle, colouring table and toddler toys. Hot food and drinks available, all welcome.

Then on Tuesday 15 April 10am-11.30am, they will be hosting Messy Easter with crafts, stories, games and songs. The event is free and includes refreshments. (donations welcome, suggested £1 per child).

WITHAM EASTER EGG HUNT! 🥚🐰🐥

Witham Town Council will be hosting it's annual Easter Trail on Saturday 19 April between 10am and 3pm on the Witham River Walk starting from Guithavon Green.

This is a free event, but tickets must be reserved in advance. The first ticket release is tomorrow on Tuesday 1 April at 10am. Tickets are only available online and only required for participating children.
