We spent yesterday at Magic Kingdom! ✨🏰

You might think Saturday is the busiest day at Walt Disney World, but it’s actually Monday. Many families travel over the weekend, meaning Saturdays can sometimes be quieter than you’d expect.

We arrived at 2pm to take advantage of the smaller afternoon crowds - and it definitely paid off! Our longest wait all day was just 30 minutes for Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, and later in the evening we were walking straight onto several rides. 🎢✨

Today we’re off to Hollywood Studios! 🎬⭐

Yesterday we flew out to Florida and, as Florida specialists, we’ll be sharing our top tips and insider insights over the next couple of weeks on how to do Florida right. ☀️🌴

First tip: your flight time matters more than you might think. We flew at midday, which meant no early alarm, arriving at our accommodation in daylight, and no driving in the dark after a long travel day.

Even better, the flight was practically empty, with most passengers getting a whole row of seats to themselves! That’s unlikely during school holidays, but outside peak travel periods there are definitely quieter times to fly - and we can help you find them.

And finally, don’t overlook Tampa Airport. It’s incredibly easy to navigate and can be a great alternative to Orlando, even if that’s where you’re staying.

When most people say "Florida" they mean Orlando. Theme parks, Mickey Mouse, queuing in the heat. And look, nothing wrong with that - we love Orlando too.

But Florida's so much bigger than that. And honestly? Some of our favourite spots are the ones nobody talks about.

Naples. Absolute gem. Gorgeous beaches without the crowds. Brilliant restaurants. Art galleries if that's your thing. Marco Island's just down the road - feels like you've discovered somewhere special.

Then there's the Keys. Completely different vibe. Laid back. A bit quirky. Watching the sunset with a cold drink while the fishing boats come in. Magic.

🐚 The Islands That Banned High-Rises

In 1974, Sanibel residents did something radical. They incorporated as a city specifically to stop development. No building can exceed the height of the tallest palm tree. No traffic lights exist anywhere on the island. No chain restaurants allowed.

The result? An island frozen in old Florida time.

The shelling here is genuinely world-famous. Sanibel's east-west orientation acts like a net, catching shells from the Caribbean and Gulf. J.N. "Ding" Darling Wildlife Refuge covers a third of the island. Roseate spoonbills. Manatees. Alligators sunning themselves without a care.

Hurricane Ian devastated these islands in 2022. The rebuilding has been remarkable - and the beaches are pristine again. Visitor numbers haven't fully recovered, meaning quieter shores for those who venture here now.
