𝗪𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝘀𝗵𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗯𝗼𝗼𝗸 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗵𝗼𝗹𝗶𝗱𝗮𝘆?
Now there's a question and a half.

A year ago, I would have provided a very clear response to this but this with the madness of this years trends on booking it's not so clear cut. Things have really changed this year.

The most evident change is the re-emergence of the late booking for 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗮𝗿𝗱 𝗽𝗮𝗰𝗸𝗮𝗴𝗲𝘀...and I mean late booking. This year people have been leaving it really late to book, with some people booking as close as 2 weeks to departure and for many within a month of departure.

Whether or not this trend will continue is yet to be seen but there are still lots of great value offers available for the last few months of 2026.

If you're a parent or grandparent looking for Christmas gift of the year, now is the time to be booking your 𝗟𝗮𝗽𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗦𝗮𝗻𝘁𝗮 𝗧𝗿𝗶𝗽...for winter 2027! Yep, 2027 - these trips sell out so quickly and they'll be going on sale any time now for next year - so you want to be jumping on dates.

𝗖𝗿𝘂𝗶𝘀𝗲𝘀 are booking out well in advance - 2027 is getting low at this point and Alaska is proving to be a really popular choice, with cruise lines opening up new routes (or switching routes) to accomodate demand.

𝗘𝘀𝗰𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗼𝘂𝗿𝘀 are another booming travel choice - with this choice its a mixed bag. Prices tend to stay more stable for tours but if you are set on a particular destination, booking early makes sense as dates sell out. Japan, Vietnam, India, Borneo and China are all very popular choices right now. Escorted tours are booking through into 2028 and from we've been seeing prices are still increasing year on year, so locking in a price now makes good sense.

At the end of the day, it really does depend on what type of trip you are looking to take, as to when is the best time to book. Trends do change and can change fast, so my advice is always - if you have something specific in mind, start conversations early to get a feel for what is available, how availability is fairing and how stable prices are.

Get it locked in to avoid disapointment wherever possible.

You can really see the nights drawing in and the days are starting to feel shorter and shorter...I hate this feeling!

If coming home from a holiday isn't painful enough, then you have the holiday washing to do...really not fun!

I have a really tight turnaround between trips this time, so no choice but to get the washing done and then repacked ready to head off on Wednesday again but I always find the holiday washing one of the worst chores - for me, it's that real down to earth with a bump, back to the daily grind job, that makes a holiday feel like a distant memory.
