๐๏ธ Yesterday we travelled around 2 hours into the beautiful Atlas Mountains
๐ฉท Our first stop was the incredible Education For All centre in Ouirgane. This amazing organisation helps girls from remote villages in Moroccoโs High Atlas Mountains access secondary education by providing safe places for them to stay while they attend school.
๐ It was lovely to learn about Intrepid Travelโs support for Education For All, helping the organisation continue its incredible work and create more opportunities for girls in these remote communities. Many of these girls live hours away from the nearest secondary school, meaning education could otherwise be completely out of reach. Since 2007, Education For All has supported hundreds of girls and is helping to create brighter futures not only for them, but for their families and communities too. Such an inspiring place to visit
๐ฅพ๐๏ธ We then set off on a hike through the mountains, walking for a few hours to a local village where we were welcomed into a family's home for a traditional home-cooked lunch.
And honestly... the food was 10/10! ๐
๐๐ฅ We enjoyed a homegrown salad, homemade bread and even had a demonstration showing us how the bread is made and cooked in a traditional clay oven. We then tucked into a delicious traditional chicken tagine, the perfect meal after our hike!
๐โโ๏ธ Afterwards, we walked to our hotel, where we spent the evening relaxing by the pool before tea.
๐ฆถ After spraining my ankle only a week ago I am super proud it made it, I am not ready for the knackers yard just yet. It does represent an elephants foot however and will require some tender loving care when home.
๐ฅToday we are heading back to Marrakech for a conference and gala night with all the other Intrepid groups
๐ฒ๐ฆ This trip has honestly been amazing and has definitely opened my eyes to guided and small-group tours. I've loved experiencing the real Morocco, meeting local people, trying traditional food and getting to explore places I probably wouldn't have discovered on my own.
