Yr Hen Stablau at Wenallt

Yr Hen Stablau at Wenallt Holiday let in rural Carmarthenshire on a 30 acre smallholding. Our lovely barn sleeps 4 to 5 people and overlooks the beautiful Tywi Valley.

Well behaved dogs are welcome. We also offer local fishing on the River Tywi, famous for its sewin and salmon.

After last week's heatwave our weather is back to a more usual state. It's warm, a bit overcast with the odd shower here 😂

The sunshine has definitely brought some of our flowers out. This gorgeous pink one is right outside the door to the barn, it catches my eye every time I walk past the door.

With Spring fully under way our minds are turning to the long summer days that are stretching ahead of us ...

If you're looking for a calm, relaxing break in the countryside with only a short drive to the beach we have what you're looking for.

Our holiday barn is perched on a hill flanked by fields and woodland. While to the front you can enjoy views of the River Towy meandering its way through the lush green fields in the valley below.

We have enough comfortable beds for 4-5 people and we're dog friendly too.

Our small but well equipped kitchen has everything you need to rustle up a hearty meal. Although if you fancy a treat and want a delicious meal out, there are a number of pubs and restaurants in the area that cater for various cuisines.

Llansteffan beach is a short drive away, with its castle and park and woodland walk it's a great place to visit. If you want to cross the border to Pembrokeshire it's only a 30 minute drive away, where you'll find more golden sandy beaches and plenty of activities to keep even the most inquisitive busy.

The wind is a bit wild today up on the hill by the barn, but the birds are singing to try to overcome the sound of the gusts.

The sun may have disappeared for a few days but the barn is cosy with plenty of heating and soft blankets. It was a struggle to leave the peace and tranquility inside the barn to come outside to check the lambs and wander down the hill.

We've had a few days of glorious sunshine here, it's been so warm we've been wearing t-shirts!

Today we had an evening stroll to check on the lambs just before the sun started to dip.

It's a fabulous time of year to visit the barn, with the view stretching across the valley and the lambs frolicking in the fields.

The sunshine was so bright today while I was in the barn, it was lovely to see after all the rain we've had.

The daffodils have bloomed and there are signs of spring peaking through here at the barn.

The mornings are lighter and the evenings are drawing out, giving us the perfect excuse to watch the sun set from the bench with a cosy blanket.

We would like to wish all of our guests, past, present and future a very Happy New Year. May 2026 bring much happiness and joy to all.

We had a fabulous 2025 with so many fantastic guests, we are so grateful to everyone who stayed with us.

We're excitedly looking forward to welcoming return visitors as well as meeting new faces as 2026 moves forward.

Our diary is open, January is fully booked and with half term in February dates are filling up quickly. Please drop us a DM if you'd like to book or if you would like any further information about our cosy holiday barn on the hill.

We've had some very cold weather here in Carmarthenshire this week, with many areas having snow ❄️ 🌨️

Luckily for us we missed the snow but we got to have some glorious autumn sunshine instead.

On my way up to the barn this morning, the sunshine was glorious. It was so bright across the valley, lighting everything that it touched up, long shadows cast across the ground from the trees. Autumn is in full swing 🍂

It's so cosy and warm in the barn, that it was very tempting to flick on the TV, make a hot chocolate and snuggle on the sofa with one of the throws.

I managed to fight the temptation and instead made sure everything was perfect for when the next guests arrive.

Definitely recommending Adref on Mansel Street ! Lovely brunch, lunch and evening meal options. Super friendly staff
