Today marks 25 years since September 11, 2001.

I think most of us can remember exactly where we were when we heard the news.

During my visit to New York in October 23, I had the opportunity to visit the 9/11 Memorial, and it was an incredibly moving experience.

The memorial is a peaceful and deeply poignant place of remembrance, thoughtfully created to honour the thousands of people who lost their lives and all those whose lives were changed forever.

Standing there, seeing the names and taking a moment to reflect on the events of that day was something I will never forget.

Travel takes us to so many incredible places, but sometimes it also takes us to places that make us stop, reflect and remember. 🤍

Today, on the 25th anniversary, we remember the lives lost, the families affected, and the heroes who showed extraordinary courage.

✈️ What’s travelling this month?

September is shaping up to be another busy month of travel, and I thought I’d share just a few of the trips my clients are heading off on this month.

🚆 Montreux by train
A beautiful journey through Europe, with the spectacular scenery of Switzerland along the way.

💍 Crete for a wedding anniversary
A special celebration in the sunshine, because what better way to mark another year together?

🇮🇹 Lake Garda for a couples’ break
A little Italian escape, combining beautiful scenery, great food and plenty of time to relax.

🤿 Tenerife for PADI training
Not every holiday is about sitting by the pool! This one is all about learning new skills and getting underwater.

🇨🇾 Cyprus for a much-needed break
Sometimes you simply need to switch off, get some sunshine and have absolutely nothing to do.

🇬🇷 A group trip to Crete
Another group heading off to enjoy everything Crete has to offer.

And then there’s a little bit of travel of my own…

🎓 I’ll be dropping Lou off at university 😢
A very exciting new chapter for her, but I’m not quite sure I’m emotionally prepared for the goodbye!

🏢 And I’ll be heading to Travel Counsellors Head Office in Manchester for my anniversary day, celebrating another year as part of the Travel Counsellors family.

So, September is looking pretty varied!

From European rail journeys and romantic escapes to diving, sunshine, group holidays and a rather emotional university drop-off…

🚢 A very special visit onboard Oceania Marina

What a couple of days at the CLIA Luxury Cruise Summit in Southampton!

Yesterday I had the opportunity to spend the day onboard Oceania Marina, with a packed programme of business sessions, networking, a ship tour and lunch.

And there was an added reason to appreciate being onboard…

Marina is about to undergo a major transformation.

In October, she is heading into dry dock for a stem-to-stern refurbishment as part of Oceania Cruises’ new OceaniaNEXT programme.

Every stateroom will be redesigned, with new bathrooms featuring marble finishes and rainforest showers, while public areas, restaurants, lounges and the pool deck will all receive enhancements.

There will also be a new Founders Bar, an expanded Baristas with a bakery, and a new Chef’s Studio. ✨

So I feel very lucky to have seen Oceania Marina again before her transformation and to have experienced a little of what makes Oceania Cruises so special.

I’ll be watching closely to see the finished ship when she emerges from dry dock. I have a feeling she’s going to be rather fabulous! ❤️

🚢 CLIA Master Training Complete! 🎓

I’m delighted to share that I’ve officially completed my CLIA Master Training!

For anyone unfamiliar with CLIA, the Cruise Lines International Association is the world’s leading cruise industry trade association and provides specialist training for travel professionals.

With cruising being such a huge part of my career for over 27 years, continuing to develop my knowledge and stay up to date with the industry is really important to me.

Another milestone achieved, and one I’m very proud of! 🚢✨

A little behind the scenes…🙈

Yep, this was me at 10pm ish the other night!

No makeup. Hair doing its own thing. PJs on.

And yes, I was actually working! I was sorting out a client’s check in from Hawaii to Las Vegas 🏖️ 🎲

The fact that my PJs happen to be in the Travel Counsellors colours is purely coincidental, obviously! 😉

🐾 Happy National Dog Day! 🐾

Today is all about celebrating the four legged members of the family, so of course I have to mention my Chief Officer Dog, Max! 🐶⚓️

Max takes his role very seriously… although I’m not entirely sure how much actual work gets done when your main responsibilities are supervising, keeping an eye on the snack supply and making sure I take regular ball throwing breaks! 😂

He’s always by my side while I’m working, whether I’m planning someone’s dream holiday, answering messages or battling through the admin.

He might not know his Caribbean from his Caribbean Coast, but he’s definitely an important member of the team! ❤️
