Soon to open the extension of Centurion Way 🛤️

The extension will eventually cover just over 3 miles from West Dean to Cocking, but this first section will start from the former Singleton Station in West Dean with original platforms still in place and goes north to Cucumber Farm bridge.

📍Start of new route is approx. 5.5 miles from cottage here and is on bus route 60

🤍🤍The Guildhall here in Priory Park opposite the cottage, opens its doors to the public every first Thursday of month…..

This impressive Medieval building was built in the 1270’s by the Franciscans and has seen many historical events. Used as law courts, its seen the trail of the Hawkhurst gang of smugglers in 1749 and the trail of poet and artist William Blake in 1804.
In later years it was the town hall, then museum and now since 2015 is licensed to host civil ceremonies 💒

The glamour of Hollywood comes to the stage here this summer with TOP HAT 🎩 packed with Irving Berlin’s greatest hits…

Celebrating the golden age of the 1930’s song and dance, experience this new production based on the classic 1935 film starring Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers. Its world premiere was back in 2011 and then went on to win numerous Laurence Olivier Awards in 2013. With stunning choreography and fabulous costumes, it’s sure to be a showstopper this coming season 🎩

It’s the final few days to experience the awesome Mars installation suspended in the ancient Nave of our Cathedral here 🔴
This touring immersive art installation is by UK artist Luke Jerram.

Known as the “Red Planet” this artwork of Mars measures seven metres in diameter and features detailed NASA imagery of the Martian surface. At around one million times smaller than the actual planet, the sphere slowly rotates and is internally lit, making for a true spectacle for visitors to explore every valley, crater, volcano and mountain on this close encounter by day or night……

Here until Sunday 10th November
Wednesday - Saturday 9am-5pm Sunday 12.30pm-2.30pm
Free Admission but donation gratefully accepted

Evening Viewings will be on selected days during this period from 6.30pm-8.30pm

🔴🟡Only a month to go until Chichester’s Big Christmas Light Switch-On 🟢🟠🟡⚪️

With the start of this magical time of year, the city will see the return of a Festive Cross Market and More, also opposite us here, Priory Park will host some very special events over two weeks in December and this year there will be six unique Christmas Tree sculptures located around the city centre, made by local artists 🎄 the return of Chichester Christmas Market, a Family Day and the high street businesses join in the annual Christmas Window Competition 🎄🎄🎄

Yesterday, this young lady decided that the law doesn’t apply to her upon being challenged by a member of our staff for clearly shoplifting.

A petty theft to the value of under £10.00 but what she doesn’t appreciate is that in order for us to cover the costs of this theft we have to sell goods to the value of five times this amount as well as the stress caused to our friendly team.

Also, if she feels she can easily get away with it here, where do these thefts stop!?

Any help in identifying her would be greatly appreciated.

⛵️ What ever the season picturesque Bosham two miles west of Chichester is a must explore whilst here with us! Jutting into Chichester Harbour with its own harbour and inlet on the western side.
It has long been associated with the story of 👑King Canute turning back the tide here….. the remains of his eight year old daughter are buried in Holy Trinity Church, who tragically drowned in the millstream outside the church.
Bosham is also mentioned in the Domesday Book of 1086 and the church is depicted in the Bayeux Tapestry.

⛵️Today a thriving centre for sailing, along with great walks, brilliant opportunities for artists and photographers alike 📷 🎨 with a few cafes, pubs, an array of arts and crafts shops within Bosham Walk.
Whilst strolling around the village you will notice cottages along the high street with their door steps a couple of feet above the road level or some with protective boards at doorways or garden gates. This is to prevent flooding when tides are very high here…

🏁 🏁 And we’re off 💨 yes this year’s Goodwood Revival is underway. Taking place on the outskirts of Chichester, at the world’s only classic race track which remains entirely in its original form…

Immerse yourself in these three days of nostalgia from the traditional flypast of historic planes, the morning parades, recreated races from the glory days of the motor circuit, best dressed competitions for visitors who go that extra mile in their fabulous period outfits from the 40’s, 50’s and 60’s. At the Richmond Lawn is just one of this year’s must do’s try your hand at the 1950’s style driving simulators 🚗 Could you pass a 1950’s test back then ❓
Over the road get the Revival shopping experience, see the Revival Car Show, see special guest appearances on the Revive & Thrive stages. Also rare and valuable classic cars go under the hammer auction, catch a film at the Sky Cinema 🎞️ or just have some fun on the traditional fair ground rides🎠 Plus there is so much more….

💧💧The complimentary water we give to guests is bottled at source just outside our historic city here on the Sussex and Hampshire border.

Due to the filtration through deep chalk layers of the South Downs the water is enriched high in calcium and low in sodium thus resulting in it being given Natural Mineral Water status by government, meaning it is untouched with no artificial treatments.
It has been drawn from an artesian well which is 420ft below ground for over thirty years now by and is one of the UK’s finest sources. The plastic bottles are made from eco-friendly 💯% recycled plastic which is sourced within the UK and are 💯% recyclable ♻️♻️ So please remember when you have finished with them to put in our recycling bin provided 🚮♻️
