This is a great initiative from Avon and Somerset Police If you are have a family member, or care for someone, living with dementia, you can find out more by following the link at the bottom of their post.

May 18-24 marks Dementia Action Week.

If you care for someone living with dementia, the worry that they may become lost, confused or disorientated while out and about can be constant.

Our Dementia Safeguarding Scheme is here to help.

The free service allows families and carers to share vital information with police ahead of time, meaning that if someone living with dementia is reported missing, officers can access the information straight away and take action quickly.

Eligible people registered with the scheme can also request free assistance devices, including Life360 Bluetooth Tracking Tiles to help locate someone if they go missing, and NFC wristbands or tags that can be scanned by someone helping them to access key contact information and get them to safety.

Our partnership with Avon Fire & Rescue Service ensures people registered with the scheme are also referred for a free home fire safety visit, helping to reduce risk both at home and in the community.

Sunny days in beautiful gardens 🌞🌷
I recently took some clients to a gathering at Stoberry House in Wells. The gardens were stunning and there was a spectacular view over the city of Wells, you could even see Glastonbury Tor (if you look carefully you may spot it in the distance on my last photo).

This is a perfect time of year to get out for a day trip, there are lots of accessible gardens to visit in our local area and plenty of other outdoor attractions.

Both our vehicles are wheelchair accessible and can accommodate 2 other seated passengers with a wheelchair traveller. We can assist with wheelchairs during the trip, if required. To book a special outing with a loved one, or to discuss where you would like to go, call 07587121661 ☎️

I had a lovely morning on Thursday attending an event put on by the North West Somerset branch of Parkinson's UK

I was joined by the new CEO for Driving Miss Daisy UK, Gemma Lock, who is a local lady and volunteered to meet members, alongside me, to give them information about our service.

We had some great conversations and enjoyed watching exercise demonstrations specifically tailored to those living with a Parkinsons diagnosis, and listening to the wonderful Posset Singers. We even joined in with 'The Parky Charter' song!

It was also great to see our MP, Sadik Al-Hassan for North Somerset joining in with the choir. Sadik told us that he often spotted our cars around North Somerset whilst he's out and about.

Did you know that we provide companion services as well as assisted transport?

We often support clients living with dementia, or a mental health condition, to get out into the community and to stay active.

This can allow their main carers to have a break, and for our clients to socialise with others outside of their family or care home environment.

Having gained my level 2 accreditation in the principles of dementia care, and having supported close family members through their dementia journey, I understand the importance of staying active and of social interaction for individuals with a dementia diagnosis.
I take time to understand each new client and will adapt the companionship i provide, to ensure they get the most out of our trips out, and have a good time.

Elizabeth and I enjoyed a lovely Easter treat on Wednesday evening, watching Posset Singers and Show Choir at their Spring concert 🎵🎶
The choirs sounded amazing in the lovely surroundings of Christchurch in Clevedon.

Celebrating the life of my client and friend Margaret Povall (Jemima) today.

A wonderful, strong, inspiring lady. We shared some very fun times and some difficult times. I shall miss chatting about our shared love of musicals, dogs and smoked salmon! 🥰
