✈️💡 TRAVEL TIP THURSDAY – DON'T LEAVE YOUR TRAVEL INSURANCE UNTIL THE LAST MINUTE!

A really common mistake is thinking:

“I don't travel for another 8 months… I'll sort my insurance nearer the time.”

But here's the thing… 👀

Travel insurance isn't JUST there to protect you while you're actually away.

One of the important reasons to arrange appropriate cover as soon as you've booked your holiday is the cancellation cover that may apply before you travel.

For example, depending on your individual policy and circumstances, cancellation cover could potentially help if you unexpectedly have to cancel your holiday for an insured reason.

If you wait until just before departure to buy your policy, you've spent months with no travel insurance in place for anything that might happen beforehand.

💡 MY TIP:

👉 Book the holiday
👉 Arrange suitable travel insurance
👉 Then you know what cover you have from the start

And don't automatically choose the cheapest policy!

Take a few minutes to check:

🏥 Medical & emergency expenses
❌ Cancellation cover – and whether the limit is enough for the cost of your holiday
🧳 Baggage & personal belongings
✈️ Travel disruption/delay cover
🏂 Any activities you plan to do
🚢 Cruise cover if you're cruising
🌍 Whether you need European or worldwide cover
📋 Any exclusions or conditions that could affect you

And remember, travel insurance policies aren't all the same.

Always read the policy wording, make sure the cover is suitable for your individual trip and circumstances, and declare anything the insurer asks you to declare.

Sorting your insurance might not be the most exciting part of holiday planning… 😂

But it's one of those things you'll be very glad you thought about if you ever need it.

🧳✈️ TRAVEL TIP THURSDAY – HOW MUCH HAND LUGGAGE DO YOU ACTUALLY GET?

Here's a useful one to SAVE for your next holiday! 📌

You might see “hand luggage included” when booking a flight, but did you know the amount you can actually take can be VERY different depending on the airline?

I've compared the current allowances for some of the major airlines my customers regularly travel with 👇

🔵 JET2

🧳 Cabin bag: up to 56 x 45 x 25cm
⚖️ Maximum 10kg

PLUS

👜 Small under-seat bag: up to 40 x 30 x 20cm

So with Jet2, your larger cabin case AND a small under-seat bag are included.

🟠 EASYJET

🎒 FREE allowance: one small under-seat cabin bag
📏 Maximum 45 x 36 x 20cm
⚖️ Maximum 15kg

It has to fit underneath the seat in front of you.

⚠️ A larger 56 x 45 x 25cm overhead cabin bag is NOT automatically included with every easyJet fare. It can be purchased separately or is included with certain fares/memberships.

🔵 RYANAIR

🎒 FREE allowance: one small personal bag
📏 Maximum 40 x 30 x 20cm

This must fit underneath the seat in front.

⚠️ If you want to take a second 10kg cabin bag (55 x 40 x 20cm), you'll need an option such as Priority & 2 Cabin Bags.

🔷 TUI AIRWAYS

And THAT'S why it's so important not to assume all airlines have the same rules!

Look at the difference between easyJet and Ryanair's standard free allowances compared with Jet2, TUI Airways and Virgin Atlantic. 👀

You could also fly out with one airline and return with another and potentially have two completely different allowances.

💡 MY HAND-LUGGAGE TIPS

📏 Measure your bag including wheels and handles

⚖️ Check the weight AND dimensions

🎒 Check whether your fare includes a small under-seat bag, larger overhead cabin bag or both

✈️ Flying with different airlines? Check BOTH allowances

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Travelling with children or infants? Check their individual allowance too — don't automatically assume it's the same as an adult's.

And most importantly…

👉 Always check your airline's current baggage policy before travelling.

Airlines can change their allowances and the baggage included can also depend on the fare or booking type you've chosen.

It's a two-minute check that could save you an unexpected charge at the airport! 🙌

📕✈️ TRAVEL TIP THURSDAY – GO AND CHECK YOUR PASSPORT! 👀

Here's an actual travel tip that could save you a LOT of stress…

Don't just look at the expiry date on your passport.

Depending on where you're travelling, there can be rules about how old your passport is on the day you enter AND how much validity needs to remain.

And this is where people can get caught out.

🌍 Different destinations have different passport requirements.

So please don't rely on:

❌ “I've still got six months left, so I'll be fine.”

❌ “I travelled with it last year.”

❌ “My friend went and theirs was accepted.”

Your passport being in date doesn't automatically mean it meets the entry requirements for every country.

💡 MY TIP:

As soon as you book a holiday, check the official entry requirements for your destination using the UK Government's foreign travel advice.

Check:

📕 Your passport's date of issue

📅 Your passport's expiry date

🌍 The rules for the country you're visiting

🔄 And any countries you're transiting through

And don't leave it until the week before you travel!

I check entry requirements when helping my customers, but ultimately it's really important that every traveller makes sure their own documents meet the requirements for their trip.

This is something I'm asked quite a lot — and I think people are often surprised by just how much CAN be included! 👀

Every cruise line is different, but your cruise fare will commonly include things like:

🛏️ YOUR ACCOMMODATION
Your cabin travels with you, so unpack once and wake up somewhere new!

🍽️ LOTS OF YOUR FOOD
Main restaurants, buffets and selected casual dining venues are usually included.

🎭 ENTERTAINMENT
Depending on the ship, this could include theatre shows, live music, comedy, quizzes, parties and performances.

🏊 POOLS & SUNDECKS

🏋️ FITNESS FACILITIES

🧒 KIDS' & TEENS' CLUBS
Many family-focused cruise lines have fantastic age-specific clubs included.

🎢 ACTIVITIES AROUND THE SHIP
This varies massively by cruise line and ship, but some have everything from waterslides and mini golf to climbing walls and much more.

🌍 MULTIPLE DESTINATIONS

This is the BIG one for me.

Imagine going to sleep in one destination and waking up somewhere completely different the next morning… without packing another suitcase or catching another flight! 😍

Of course, there CAN be extras depending on your cruise line and fare:
