Rare bird sighting - a first for the Isle of May National Nature Reserve.
Migration season has started with an unusual surprise.
Birders book now!

We have a few spaces available on our tours today, Saturday, at 1245 hrs and tomorrow, Sunday at 0900hrs tours to see the American White Throated Sparrow - never before recorded on the isle.

Tours leave from Dunbar Harbour, include up to 3 hours landing on the isle and a sail around the Bass Rock to see the gannet colony.

Going, Going, but not yet gone!

Puffin season is nearing its natural end for 2026. On land, a few are still feeding their puffling.
Around the Isle of May National Nature Reserve, rafts of puffins are socialising and staying..maybe for a few more days..or maybe longer..only nature knows!

Meanwhile, at the the gannets are at peak season, industrious in feeding their 'guga' chicks.
As the season changes we're starting to look for migrant birds, dolphins and minke whale who usually appear in August through September.

Every day is different!

A spectacular massed display as Puffins gather before their annual migration.
There's still time to see them rafting and feeding at the Isle of May National Nature Reserve.
Over the next week the Puffins will socialise around the isle as they wait for pufflings (puffin chicks) to fledge their burrow.
Then, the annual migration will be complete.
These fascinating little birds live entirely at sea all winter, venturing into the North Sea, North Atlantic and flying as far as The Faroe Isles and Iceland.
In early April each year, they'll return.
Look out for 2027 sailing times to book your landing tour.

Our six hour tour sails around the Bass Rock, around the Isle of May, before a 3-hour landing on the Isle with an optional guided tour and time to roam at your leisure. See puffins and cliff dwelling birds at peak season.

A supremely privileged sighting of Orca seen crossing the Forth near the to the Isle of May National Nature Reserve and then again as they swam past the boat headed out to sea.
A 'bucket list' sighting for skipper Alan who had never seen ORCA and a mesmerising experience for all those on board...and that's all before landing at the Isle of May to see puffins at peak season.
