Earlier this year, members of our team visited Uthando South Africa’s Goal50 Edu Hub in Heideveld, Cape Town, where we’re contributing ZAR 80,000 to expand early learning opportunities in under-resourced communities.

Built through Uthando’s Waste to Wonder initiative, Goal50 transforms discarded materials such as tyres, glass bottles and eco-bricks into innovative educational spaces. During our visit, we helped ram tyre walls, each packed with around 200kg of building rubble, and saw first-hand the skill and community spirit behind the project.

Goal50 is now entering its next phase, creating more classrooms and opportunities for local children. You can help make it happen by contributing towards a tyre, with each one costing ZAR 10,000 (around £450) to sponsor. Every contribution helps turn discarded materials into vital learning spaces and lasting opportunities for generations to come. Click the link below to donate:

Today is World Ranger Day. It's a day to honour the rangers who have been killed or injured in the line of duty, and to recognise the extraordinary people who continue to protect the world's natural and cultural treasures every single day.

Whether monitoring endangered wildlife, preventing poaching, fighting wildfires, supporting local communities or welcoming visitors into protected areas, rangers are the frontline of conservation. Their work often goes unseen, but without it, many of the places we treasure simply wouldn't exist as they do today.
